This is a replacement for identical boots purchased 3 years ago for a trip to Chilean Patagonia. I originally purchased the boots because of their reputation for comfort and reliability. The boots have proved that reputation to be accurate. My reason for replacement is that the cushioning has gone away after miles of use. I also have newer low-rise Merrill Moabs so I could tell when it was time for a trade-in.

I bought these as a gift for my husband and he loves them. He walks about 6 miles a day as part of his commute in the PNW. These boots keep his feet dry during Seattle rainy days and provide him great foot and ankle support on uneven and sometimes slippery ground. Great job Merrell.

I had to switch from another brand that I had been using for approx. 10 yrs. and I am so glad that I did.
These hikers are completely waterproof, light weight and less expensive than the ones that I had been using.
Right out of the box they felt great and they did not need "breaking in".
The sizing is true and maybe even a little bit larger than expected.
No doubt in my mind that when I need a new pair they will be Merrell's.

Wearing these in my woodshop proved to be itchy and uncomfortable because wood chips, dust, and shavings continually worked their way into my socks through the loose tongue.

These boots are not a heavy duty hiking boot, but are what you would expect in a quality boot for the price paid. As most of you know that have wide feet as I do, it is becoming almost impossible to find a shoe of quality that fits our wide feet. These are wide enough and long enough! Wow, I said! Right out of the box the comfort and fit were more than I expected. Let Merrell lead the way to shoe sizes that are accurate, as they should be.
Thank you to Merrell for offering wide sizes, number 1, and for offering those wide sizes exactly as they should be, the way sizes used to be with most shoes.

I broke this boot in on pavement, inner city hiking for miles. Now it is ready for trail use. Very pleased with this boot. I hike 6 miles a day average on natural surface. Saving this for winter use. I liked it better than the Moab vent.
