Our Heritage

We may have opened our doors back in 1996 as the country’s first online shoe retailer, but OnlineShoes.com’s roots started decades before when an 11-year-old sold his first pair of shoes in his father’s Seattle shoe store. His name was Dan Gerler and that feeling of elation in making the customer smile never left him.

Years later, Dan took over the reins and brought comfort and style to even more locations. But something was still missing.

Enter the Internet.

Dan immediately saw how he could further enhance his customers’ lives online, not only with convenience, but with the confidence of a neighborhood shoe store. So working out of a back storeroom, he took his family business online, never forgetting the ideals and service his father instilled in him so long ago.
