Comfort
Great everyday casual motorcycle boots/shoes - by , Jun 15, 2019
5/ 5 Stars
By far some of the most comfortable motorcycle footwear I have owned. Nice tall height, but not extra stiff so wearing them off the bike is not bad at all. Obviously not as protective as race inspired gear, but they are perfect for what they were designed for...casual riding and commuting. I wear them on 9-10 hour shifts at work and they are just as comfortable as athletic shoes, but with a stiffer, reinforced sole. I highly recommend these if you are looking for good moto footwear to be in for long periods and to not be full on stiff boots. The waterproofing is a nice feature as well. I will definitely be checking out other models at some point in the future.

I love these boots... so much so, I bought a second pair. I can wear these boots all day long in total comfort.

Bates Checks all the Boxes - by , May 31, 2019

Second pair of the Taser. One now in grey and the other one in black. Admittedly, I was dubious of ordering a pair of motorcycle boots on line, but after buying a pair of tactical boots at my local Outdoors store, I was comfortable with the brand. Well, the Taser flat out exceeds my expectations across the board. They fit well; really well made and look great. From a functional perspective, there flat and textured sole, grips well for starts and stops even in the rain. That same surface, does not interfere with moving from the rest pedals to the shifter and or rear break. Without exaggeration, folks have rolled down their windows at lights to look at my Triumph and have commented on “nice boots”! How special is that?

Solid Shoe - by , May 29, 2019
5/ 5 Stars
I've only had these Tasers for two days so I have no idea how they'll hold up, but here are some of my first impressions. - They're well made. Good stitching & materials gives me hope that they'll hold up well. Solid base adds to the quality, it has good laces and they're easy to put on and take off. The solid construction will provide good protection for a sneaker boot. I like the molded heel protection, there's plenty there and it doesn't look cheap. I think it has decent toe protection and it does have some ankle padding as well, although a little more would better. The anti slip sole provides very good grip and should last. Maybe not as good as a good lug sole but still very good. - I wear a 10.5 size shoe and it fits to size. I have other Bates boots and never had a problem with size. - I've worn them for a few hours at a time and they're pretty comfortable right out of he box, and they should get much better after breaking in. These have a good arch and there's also a little support just under the toes. Almost feels like a sneaker but obviously heavier and not as comfortable. Each shoe weighs 1 lb 4.8 oz, not too bad. My Merrill Moab 2 Mid hiking boots, which are very light, weigh 1 lb 1.8 oz. So these are only 3 oz heavier. - I haven't been able to rest how waterproof they are but I'm not too concerned about that. I wanted a good looking sneaker boot that was comfortable and provided some protection while riding. And I think I got that. I bought these on clearance at a good price, under $55, so I feel good about this purchase. I don't think I would've spent the original price of $175 though.

Wonderful boots - would buy again - by , Apr 20, 2019
5/ 5 Stars
These boots look and fit great - if a bit tighter than expected (though you can adjust with the strings). From the description, I thought this would have some sort of single pull shoe-tying system but they are just regular laces with a place to tuck them away. All said, a great boot, probably better on cooler days than hot, looking forward to riding with these in the woods.

Only wore these shoes a few times but they are for sure a keeper. They are comfortable and the arch support really helps. Seem to be built with high quality so overall I'm happy with them.

Great boots, very comfortable, waterproof. Modifications required. - by , Mar 02, 2019

I really like these boots. Great for riding and wearing all day at the office. Definitely waterproof. My feet get pretty sweaty, but it's a fine trade off for the rain protection. Living in Portland, and commuting year round, it's important. They are a bit shorter compared to other boots, and if your pants ride up, you can get wet from water coming in the top. I added elastic stirrups to my pants, problem solved. The reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the hidden lacing system causes the lace cover strips to stick up just enough to catch on my shifter lever. My solution was to use a leather punch to add holes to hold them down. It worked great. I have also had many of the hidden loops break over time as they wear out. Again, I have punched holes as a fix and it works fine. But, I shouldn't have to do this and will probably order a different style with eyelets next time. After about 1 year of almost daily use, some little chunks of the soul began to break off of the heals, but it hasn't really affected the performance. And, I wear them a LOT. All this aside, I will buy another pair of Bates to replace these, just holding out a bit longer since they are still working fine.

Sweaty and Broken - by , Mar 01, 2019

I have been a firm lover of Bates boots since my time in the Corps and so when I was in need of a casual-dress motorcycle boot, I was very excited to try out Bates' Taser boot. Unfortunately, even at their discounted price, my enthusiasm has been unfounded. The boot itself looks great, but there are a host of issues with it. Though it is waterproof, I would often find myself having extremely sweaty feet at the end of the day, my foot "sticking" to my sock in a way that was uncomfortable and persistent. Keep in mind, besides riding on my motorcycle, the most intense thing I would do was walk to my office or go to my class to teach. I'd swap out my socks a varying amount of times, trying to figure out if this was simply an issue of cheap socks causing this, but unfortunately not. Even with my favored merino wool socks, I'd still find myself with sweaty and uncomfortable feet. As someone that was potentially wanting to take these boots for longer-distance trips, I was dismayed about this. I want to come back to the matter of my lack of intensive activity beyond walking as well. I received these boots on the 15th of February and they are already starting to fall apart. The stitching on the right side of my right boot is coming out and popping off, which is dismal to say the least. I can get them resoled, but with the earlier concerns I've stated, I'm left to wonder if there is a point to this. Do not let this be a deterrent to Bates boots in general. Their combat boots are phenomenal, and I love their Bates Lites, but the Bates Taser motorcycle boot is not up to snuff in comparison to the rest of their product line. Skip on these.

i can and do wear these shoes all day as i ride my bike to school and keep these on until i get home. i can wear these for 8 to 12 hours comfortably, just make sure you have tall socks. the material on the inside can be a little rough on the skin but with socks that reach my mid shin i have no problem with these shoes. taking them of and on is very easy
