The ball on the right shoe seems raised up. Pony as comfortable as I imagined.

These shoes saved my Camino de Santiago! - by , Dec 04, 2019

In October of 2018 I hike the Camino de Santiago (Camino Frances). It was over 90 degrees the first day. My feet were on fire going over the Pyrenees. I had numerous blisters on both feet and was not able to wear my shoes. When I got Pamplona I immediately went on the hunt for hiking shoes. I obviously bought these and was amazingly happy for it! I let my feet heal for a couple days why I hiked in sandals and then I put these on. I walked 18 miles the first day. I wore these shoes in 21.3 on average every day after that until I finished the Camino. The generous size foot box is a godsend for doing big miles, they give your toes enough room to breathe and expand. My foot always feels secure, especially my heel. Even though these are Gore-Tex my feet never got that hot wearing these and my feet were not as fatigued at the end of the day. I start my second Camino on March 4th 2020. It's been really difficult deciding on what gear you want to use for a winter spring hike dealing with all of the elements. Choosing my shoes was a no-brainer. I have the flashy Cobalt version on the way right now. Now, if choosing the right puffer was as easy as choosing my shoes.....Thanks Merrell! PS I have at least six hundred miles on these shoes and the tread is getting pretty worn down. But I just used these for a hike 3 days ago in Skagway Alaska and they did great!

So far looks good - by , Nov 04, 2019

Comfortable as Moab 2 but much lighter and comes in trendy colors acceptable to wife. Too early to determine durability. Would buy 1/2 size larger than usual shoe size. So far, big toe not pushing thru top of shoe.

I've been a big fan of Merrell since I left another brand 3 years ago. Merrell hiking shoes are usually built to last and are super comfortable. I was excited about the MQM goretex version as it is lighter than their MOAB line but on my first real hike through the woods & rock scrambles this past weekend, i kept having to readjust the insert as it was all over the place over the 5 hour hike. As a result of all the shifting and friction within the shoe I got blisters. This is a first for me as I hike all the time and never had a problem with the other model/styles. A bit disappointing for 140 bucks and after a first hike. I am wondering if it's the insert or just the overall design of the shoe.

These shoes were a disappointment to me. They did not fit properly. Insoles moved around so much I needed to super glue them to shoe. The Gore Tex waterproofing is sub par on theses as well. For the cost of these I expected a great shoe, these are mediocre at best. I have been wearing Merrell shoes for 20 years, The overall quality is not what it use to be unfortunately.

Light and comfortable shoe with some shortcomings - by , Jul 10, 2019

I use this shoe in Florida and the wetlands of North Carolina. It works great in those environments and keeps my feet dry. This shoe runs a bit big. I ordered an 11, which I wear regularly in other shoes. It feels a bit like an 11.5. As a result, you need to use the top eyelets to keep the shoe from sliding around too much. I attained a good fit using this method. However, the shoelaces are too short, so you really need small hands to get them tied right. The Merrell insoles are terrible; they slide all around in the shoe. The second time out I ditched them for some Dr. Scholls, which feel awesome and have no slippage. Otherwise, this is a great hiker and is lightweight as all get-up. Love how it looks. Merrell needs to anchor the insole better and get longer laces.

Traditional, as expected Merrel quality, comfort and performance - by , Jul 02, 2019

So, these are the first pair of shoes I've purchased on line. I have 2 other (5-8 year old...) pairs of Merrel hiking boots, and decided to give this a whirl based on on-line reviews. 100% happy and pleased. These hiking "shoes" are awesome. Have proven to be waterproof for the past few days. Jump in and out of muddy low level rivers, no problem. Super comfortable. True to the size of my older 2 pairs of MOAB boots, so, they fit exactly right and are exactly what I was looking for. I don't notice any extra "heat" from the GTX linking, which I've seen others mention. They are very comfy to me. The toe box is perfect for me, same as my older MOABs. I appreciate the fact that they really are lightweight, with quality grips / lugs. For day hikes in the rain in the mountains, I don't want to wear my MOAB hiking boots - they have support that I need when I have a backpack, but too heavy for day hikes. The heel fits me great. The arch support is very nice - to the point that I don't notice it at all. Overall, I could not have imagined a better shoe for what I was looking for. A little expensive, perhaps, but I got what I wanted, and it fits the bill and does what it claims, so I'm super happy !!! I'd buy these again in a heartbeat !

MQM Flex does it all - by , Jul 01, 2019

I was impressed by how these trail runners handled completely different terrain. I've tackled some very slick and wet conditions with tree roots, streams and slippery rocks as well as others with very dry and rocky paths and these provided a lot of control and comfort throughout the run. These are my go to trail runners, particularly is wetter conditions and trails.
