Comfort
not waterproof - by , Oct 01, 2018

The fit was great but within 2 weeks of wearing everyday in wet grass and mud my toes started to get wet. One shoe was worse then the other. Good price but going to spend more money for better quality.

Defect Issue - by , Mar 18, 2019
1/ 5 Stars
I bought these shoes in order to use on a hiking trip. However, after casually wearing them twice around campus, the plastic piece that allows you to wrap the shoelace tighter and higher up your ankle fell off. After contacting Merrell and explaining, they said they will only reimburse boot repair up to $25. If it’s more than that, you have to pay for it. After spending money on hiking boots, I should not have to pay more than the original price for a defective product. I highly recommend looking elsewhere as they boots will not last the terrain they are intended for if they cannot handle concrete sidewalks.

Great Comfortable Shoe, but it is not made well. - by , Jan 12, 2020
1/ 5 Stars
I have always worn Merrell Shoes. They have always been my favorite. I got a new pair of MOAB's about 10 months ago. I hike about 5 miles a day and 5 days/week I wear the MOAB's. The First 4-6 months of wearing the boot, it stayed dry when I was crossing creeks and wetlands. At first, occasionally, I would note wetness, but I was unsure where it was coming from and it was minor. In the last 2 months the shoe has started coming loose from the sole, and so, leaking more. They are falling apart. I had my last pairs of Merrell's for over 12 years and they are all still dry. This was a big purchase for me and I was hoping these shoes would last 5-10 years. I am not sure if I just got a bad pair or you changed the kind of glue you are using, but I am disappointed in this pair of shoes.

Sole separates from uppers. - by , Feb 25, 2017

The Moab boot is very comfortable. However, the sole began to separate from the upper part of the boot within 2 years and thus it is no longer waterproof. The most disappointing thing is that I sent Merrell an email complaining about the problem and asked how they would like to deal with it, and they never even bothered to respond. I would have expected better customer relations from them and that they would stand behind their products. Very disappointing.

Not waterproof. - by , Oct 26, 2017

These were my first pair of Merrell’s and I was impressed by how comfortable they were from the first time I put them on. Sadly I found out they were definitely not waterproof when it started to rain mid-hike. I’d call them water resistant at a stretch. Until I ended up finding that my shoe had split where the toe meets the sole after ending up with one dry foot and one completely soaked foot in light rain. No other damage, just a clean split between the different sections of the boot. Now I wear them to work in a warehouse where thankfully they keep my feet pain free after 12 hour days.

Not Waterproof - by , Jun 03, 2018

I bought a pair of women's Moab 2 from the last local REI garage sale. They were barely used when I bought it (in almost new condition, original owner wanted size up), and I've put about 30 miles on them since. I wore them for a 3 night trip to Colorado, and have been hiking around some easy to moderate trails in Western North Carolina region. Yesterday was the 2nd time I took them out in wet conditions...my feet were completely soaked half way through my 4 mile hike. I'm not hiking in rainstorms...just crossed some muddy trails with some short flooded sections (at most 3 inch deep). These boots are pretty much useless to me if they're not waterproof. They were also not very breathable so my feet were just getting steamed in wet and hot conditions. I did gave 2 stars for comfort (in dry conditions) and offer enough ankle support. I guess these boots are ok if you live in the desert or if you don't hike in wet conditions. Was honestly disappointed because I am looking for boots for the AT and had high hopes for these.

Water soaked through brand new boots immediately - by , Jun 30, 2019

After wearing a pair of these to teach in and being satisfied with their fit and comfort, I bought a new pair to wear on a birding expedition in Shetland. After fewer than twenty steps through wet grass on my first morning out, water soaked through both of the brand new boots as if they weren't even there, and I was stuck squishing around in cold, wet boots for two weeks. Needless to say, I was very unhappy and disappointed in the boots. If you get these boots for hiking, they must be treated heavily with waterproofing compound before wearing, or you'll wind up miserable like I did.

No traction - by , Jul 08, 2019
2/ 5 Stars
I bought these boots to hike the high peaks in the Adirondacks (New York). The terrain can be anywhere from rock slides, roots, wet/muddy, to a regular path. Based on product description, I thought that they would be perfect. I have to say, I am very dissatisfied with this pair of boots. The only good thing I can say is they are definitely waterproof. I have trekked through an entire mud season with them and my feet stay dry. But, I have also ended up down on the ground more times than I can count. I am very unhappy with the traction on the bottom of them. I have been vertical on rock walls and felt my feet slipping. I have had to navigate over wet logs through mud and have slipped directly off them. I would not recommend this boot for anything other than easy walking.

Narrow in the toes! - by , Dec 18, 2019

My last Merrell hiking boots were great for my wide toes, and I hoped that this product would approximate that one, but was disappointed. Merrell seems to have gone narrow! I will have to search out a new brand.
