Comfort
Comfortable Rugged Hiking Boot - by , Aug 18, 2020
4/ 5 Stars
I have had this boot for a few weeks and put some challenging miles on them so far. I like the smaller literal footprint of these boots. They work well for the rocky trails here in NE. It's interesting that the leather upper no longer matches the leather around the toe box.

Great shoe made even better - by , Aug 04, 2020

They feel great. I had the same model and they lasted 2+ years. Now this shoe is made even better. All nubuck instead of only certain parts. And the seal around the edge of the upper is different now. Its not rubber, some other material. Better

Built great, look great, but not an ultralight or nimble hiker - by , Jul 27, 2020
2/ 5 Stars
I'm a huge fan of Merrell with 10+ years of being a happy customer, so I'll start with the good. Probably the best built pair of Merrells that I've gotten, really well put together great quality materials. I was apprehensive of all leather (really loved how the 7s feel, especially the Storms)and knew that they would take some breaking in, but that is what it is. I wore to walk my dog around town a couple miles or so a day for about a month. The bad/really disappointing part...they are just too stiff and not nimble at all and would have to check, but felt significantly heavier than previous versions. When you get them and pull out of the box they feel like impressive hiking boots, but I did part of a hike that I did last Oct wearing my Merrell Moabs on the Pacific Crest Trail. Last time I did 28 miles and have been doing some training to try and start parting out the Tahoe Rim trail in 50 mile chunks. I did 20 miles last week in my couple year old moabs that these chameleons were supposed to replace, no issues...did 12 in these and they are the only Merrells that I do not recommend because they are clunky, really bad on rock piles. I've bought 5 other pairs of Merrells this year...these are my least pair of Merrells to hike in of all time...look good though.

This hiking boot is very comfortable with durable vibram sole - by , Jul 22, 2020
5/ 5 Stars
I always liked the feel of previous Merrell Chameleon hiking boots, but this upgraded version is by far, even more comfortable with a very aggressive vibram sole for rocky terrain and rough trails. I give this boot a five star rating. I could hike for hours in these boots without no blistering issues.

Fairly good boots - by , Jun 20, 2020

This boot is lightweight yet tough. Tread is suitable for steep terrain, uppers have resisted scratches and cut two weeks into almost daily use. I work in rough terrain off trail. When in briars (note: website spell check does not recognize this word) laces come loose. I often have to stop and retie the boot. The top lace hook should be replaced with an eye a loops or be enlarged to keep laces on. Probably would not buy this boot again for my use but would for on trail use only.

Well-made shoe at a fair price. Good support, excellent traction sole. Relatively lightweight. Recommended.

I really like this boot. I'm Old School which means I like my ankles supported and these do the job. I rarely write reviews but this boot I just can't stop wearing it from the day I took them out of the box!

Great hiking boots! - by , Jun 04, 2020

At 60 I'm an older guy but do a lot of hiking to stay fit. I have worn various versions of your boots for a number of years and have always found them to be comfortable and durable. I wanted a pair of boots that would be comfortable on longer and more challenging terrain so got the "mid" height. The first day I logged 6 miles in them and they felt good but for getting used to the higher boot. After adjusting the lacing a bit for the next outing I found they were as comfortable as slippers! I have had them for a little over a week now and have twice hiked 10 miles with no blisters or bruising like in the old days! These boots are light weight, well designed and very comfortable.
