OUTSTANDING First I would like to say, Bates boots are the best boots! I have a pair of Bates boots for almost 13 yrs that i first bought when I worked in law enforcement. Those boots have been thru hell and back. I still use them to do things around the house ex: mow lawn, construction on my house, snow removal, etc. Now with that said, it is very hard to get boots that are EXTRA WIDE FIT! I have been wearing boots since the age of 18 in the Airforce. I have developed a bad bunion on right foot that i have yet to find a comfortable boot to wear, now that I work as a dock worker. I have wasted so much money on boots that I thought would be comfortable its not funny! Then I saw these boots and said "Heck my old boots were BATES BOOTS that I wore for 13 yrs, let me give them a shot!" Well I would of saved alot of money if I would of just stayed with the quality boots sales, and they have EXTRA WIDE WIDTHS! Thank you Bates, I can now work again with out pain!

Dissapointed I have had a pair of these Bates for some 3-4 years (or so). I only wear them five to eight times a year for 'inspection' requirements. The boot's uppers and thread are good but the sole started to completely and 'cleanly' separate on both shoes. Cause unknown. When not in use, I keep them at home in my closet. I tried a friend's suggestion to use 'glue' to simply 'glue' the soles back. It worked for a single wear cycle and then the soles just came back off - unglued. Can't reccomend.

We understand your frustration, however, the footwear is made to be worn and when rubber, and polyurethane, is stored for a lengthy period of time, it will break down. It is a natural process called hydrolysis and something that the industry is working to address. Your footwear may fall under our warranty. Please give us a call at 866.699.7374. We do sincerely apologize for any inconveniences you may have suffered.

Entire Sole Separating from Boot I've had these boots for just under 4 years. I'm a plain clothes law enforcement officer and only wear the boots for training and raid operations. The boots have been worn less than 15 times total. I just noticed that the sole, starting in the middle of the shoes and extending to the toe and heal are separating from the boot. I keep the shoes stored in the back of my SUV in a duffel bag so not sure if the heat of the vehicle could have contributed to the issue.
