These boots are great! They are exactly what I wanted in a winter boot -- soft, flexible, warm, great traction and versatile. No break in needed for these boots. Love them for taking my long walks down our rural road which is always full of ice, snow and slush at times in the winter. They are also versatile in that you can wear them under pants and jeans or with skinny jeans tucked in. Even though they run a half size or so short there is still plenty of room to use a 3/4 orthotic under the fleece footbed to give them great support when walking.
I got these because they said they were good on slippery surfaces but they are terrible on ice! I live in the mountains and now I use these for driving to the post office or the store. I don't hike in them at all. They are very, very comfortable (like all Ugg boots I have had) and they are nice and toasty. Just wish they were better on slick surfaces. It is nice that they are waterproof. Moon boots are better for deep snow. I don't think I would buy this style again, however I do love my regular Ugg boots! I would recommend these for someone who is going to be walking doing everyday simple tasks in snow. I would not recommend them at all for hiking.
Order up a size. Initially ordered my regular size and found it ran a half size small. Next size up was good. Didn't care for the black color as it reminded me of combat boots, so went with otter and am satisfied. Looks like a great boot for winter. Just waiting for the bad weather to come! Don't think this would be good for active hiking as it is more like a snow boot, heavy, not for active long hikes.
