Enjoy a vintage vibe with the Steve Madden Troopa lace-up boot. The supple leather upper of this women's casual boot combines handsome stitching details and a distressed look with a full inside zip entry for easy on-and-off. A lightly cushioned footbed and smooth leather lining lend the Steve Madden Troopa ankle boot durable stability and all-day comfort.
I had to get these boots for my daughter, HAD TO. Like, "Are you trying to ruin my life? EVERYONE cool has these boots" had to. She spent two days trying to figure out whether she should loop the laces around her ankles, like one set of celebrities do in the magazines she reads, or lace them all up like a second set of celebrities. I like to think it's the biggest problem she has, and choose to just enjoy it.
These shoes are super cute, but hurt my feet terribly! The cap at the end of the toes is made with such stiff leather that with every step the top of my foot gets more and more bruised because the shoe just won't give. I would have returned them but I wore them outside before I realized! I've worn them for weeks (giving breaks for my bruises to heal...) in the hope of breaking them in. No luck yet. :(
I purchased this same boot two years ago and loved it. It lasted for all of that time and is still wearable (with just the leather sole worn from so much use). However, the new boot (same style and color) was falling apart within the first day. The leather, that lasted so beautifully in the first pair, looked terrible after only a few hours wear. It chipped, rubbed off, and peeled. (Yes! All of these...) So sad to have had to return this boot. Contacted Steve Madden and explanation was that their boots are manufactured all over the world and "Quality control is difficult." Wow. That's a shame. Love Steve Madden. This is not good news.
Overall I love these boots, though I do have a couple of complaints. First, the pros: they're super cute and super easy to wear. They're versatile and look good laced up or folded down, with casual outfits or a bit dressier, with skinny jeans, wish scrunched down socks, with skirts. They've been my go-to boots since I got them!
The cons: they really have very little arch support, so they're not all that comfortable to wear for long periods or time or for long walks. I got some heel/arch inserts though and that helped quite a bit. The biggest problem, though, is that the sole seems to be starting to peel away from the shoe at the toes. I've worn them a lot since getting them, but it's only been two months, so they should be in better shape. I'm hoping I can get them glued down though and keep them going.
One other note -- when I first got these boots they reeked of shoe polish and it would rub off on my hands and other things they touched. This is pretty weird, right? I buffed it out though and all was well, but still. Be careful at first, ha.
It took my awhile to find a boot with the right style for the right price. These were wonderful for the price, especially with Black Friday promos. I ordered a half size up, but my pinky toes still get smooshed. A full size up should be enough. Also, I will need to take them to a cobbler to have some sort of sole with traction put on the bottom. These are SO slippy! I definitely wouldn't wear them in the snow or on ice.
I LOVE that it has a zipper, and they're very comfortable when on. I would recommend them, just make sure you order a size up!
