You cannot go wrong.

Ok, so I'm going to write this review because I am so completely satisfied. And because I researched the heck out of this purchase, and I know there are concerns about sizing and so forth, and now I can add my experience to the mix. As I said, I researched like crazy before buying these. I have a wide foot. And a high arch. This makes for trouble. For example, I have a pair of Frye boots I've been wearing for years, and still can only just get my foot in because of my arch. Before getting the Sorels, I did try the Ralph Lauren winter boot, and - alas - the arch problem prevented me being able to fit in. But these worked like a dream. Sorel is a high end brand, and they know their stuff about making serious shoes/boots. I didn't have a problem with getting my foot in and out, very easily. Before I moved here to NYC, I'd been living in Seattle, and the Fryes were perfect for warmth and durability in the wet weather. We didn't get a lot of snow or ice, so that wasn't an issue. Until I moved here. The snow. The ice. The slush. I knew, especially after this past storm, and from observing how folks here all wear heavy-duty boots, that I had to get something hardier than the Fryes. I didn't want to subject them to the serious slushy wet snow, and I worried also about the Fryes not being able to grip the road as well as I needed. These ARE wide, no doubt about that. And they ARE heavy. I don't mind the heaviness - in fact, that's a sign of their strength and durability. And I adjusted very quickly. I got them in size 9 and I'm glad I did. The 8's would have probably fit, but I learned from my horse owner friend that having roominess is important for being able to move and shift my balance. They are a mite roomy, but I can wear thick socks in them. Though they are so incredibly warm I don't feel the need. I love love love the color, too. I think this review says "brown," but I got the grey. Gorgeous. I've gotten lots of compliments, and I've even seen other women wearing them around town. They are seriously stylish. I'm 57 - not into passing fancies or wearing shoes for one season and replacing them every year. You can't do better than these, really.

Truly Fashionable and Functional

Terrific for running errands in slush, shovelling the driveway, shlepping kids to and from school, and playing in the snow! Warm and cozy and the fur detail is so stylish and trendy. I've wanted these for a long time and I'm extremely happy with these boots! I have wide calves and still had room to tuck in my jeans. The one con is that they are heavy --- you can't do ballet or the waltz gracefully in these babies!

amazing snow boats

Every boot has its function. For cold weather these are my go to boot, warm wide enough to add additional socks or heavy socks.perfect for sledding and most outdoor activities. I wear these mostly when snowshoeing. Light weight, fit easily into show shoes, sits high on the leg and the fur top helps keep the snow out. These are not a good boot for excessive walking. The boot allows for heel lift, where the firm base meets the leather upper. After a 3 mile walk through the woods my right heel was ripped open and bleeding. Even though the is a lot of tread on this boot they are poor with icy conditions.

Function + form in one boot

This is a stylish boot that is way more than just another big clunky snow boot. I live in Michigan and we get snow! It's nice to feel stylish when you venture out into the snow and cold to brave 8 new inches of snow and all the slush and mess in parking lots. I get compliments on this boot EVERY time I wear them. They're very warm and above average comfort for a truly functional and good looking snow boot. I can shovel the driveway, walk my dog on the shore of Lake Michigan, and go to a movie in these boots.

Love thiis boot

Will wear these boots to shovel snow from a long driveway. Love that it is a high boot and has a liner for extra warmth. Wear a 6 1/2 but ordered a 6 following what most reviewers suggested. Could not get my foot in. Returned them and got a 7. Perfect fit.
