Take your style to the slopes and the streets with the Merrell Encore Apex Waterproof boot. This women's outdoor boot features a suede, nubuck and soft shell material upper with 200 grams of Opti-Warm™ insulation. Cordlock lacing secures the right fit, while the cushioned footbed lends support underfoot. The sticky rubber outsole of the Merrell Encore Apex Waterproof boot provides reliable traction on slippery surfaces.
I am a professiional dog walker living in Maine. Purchased these boots specifically for walking dogs, navigating deep drifts and
some icy pavements. This boot not only looks good on but
serves the purposes of good traction, comfort, stability, easy on/
easy off design, and has attractive overall appeal. Looks great
with jeans rolled up so you can see the detail or with lined fleece
runners tights. The one downside is the arch support. I would have
liked to see a bit more. Heel support very good; I wear 'Smart Wool'
socks with these boots. Waterproofing: Decent. I spray my boots
with an additional waterproofer. I would say, it is a bit short in the vamp; generally, I take a size 6.5 but ordered a 7m and glad I did.
I'm a B width, and the width is fine. Zipper works well and I like the
extra cording at the top to pull the boot tighter to keep snow out.
Overall, it is my favorite boot this winter. Also, when you 'click' the
heels, the snow and muck comes off rather easily. Good for not
mucking up the floors in your house. Quality on this boot is very
good as well; nice touch of the light red stitching on the front of the
boot. Again, good traction on hard pack, some stability on that occasional ice patch, warm and comfortable on long walks. Strangers say "Hey, I like your boots"....
I bought these to wear in Munich in December -- cold, wet, on cobblestones. They kept me warm, dry, and pain-free. I have a high instep/arch, and had to tug quite a bit to get them on, but once on and I had wiggled my toes enough to get the socks back where they belonged, the fit was excellent. I found them stiff at the ankle, and had to turn my socks down to protect my ankles from getting blisters.
