Great hiking boot Ordering my 3'rd pair

6 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

Use for hiking in mountains in southwest and Colorado. Good fit immediately. No long break in. I have a long, narrow foot and narrow heel. There are no slip or rub issues. Good arch support. Flexible. Not heavy and stiff. I always want to have a new pair on hand...ready for the future. A narrow hiking boot that fits is a treasure!!

lowa hiking boot

These Lowa boots come in Womens wide width - but they are not wide! I ordered an extra size up to accomodate socks, but they are way too narrow. I had to send them back and order the men's size to get a true wide width.

Love, love, love this boot

4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

I wear this boot everyday. Got a pair to travel in Italy. Horrified by the cost, but desperate for comfort and safety. Reviews seemed way too good to be true, but I knew I could send them back. I didn't expect much, and kept thinking about the cost. I have tried every other supportive boot that called itself narrow, and some were pretty good. I wrote decent reviews for them here. I have very flat, narrow feet, and getting something narrow enough that takes a prescription orthotic has been a nightmare. If the front of the shoe/boot is narrow enough, often the heel rides up and I have sores. Ordinarily, I have to lace the narrows I buy so tight that I cut off circulation to my feet and then, every time I can, I untie my shoes for comfort. The whole world changed with Lowa. OMG, soooooooooo worth the price. A true narrow that is light, and supports the ankle . . . everything that other people have written here is true. They are boots, yes, but they aren't ugly or bulky, so I do wear them almost everyday under slacks. My feet and ankles don't hurt for the first time in years. That is all I care about! I cannot believe I didn't know about this brand until last spring. I will never, ever wear another brand now . . . as long as this company keeps this boot the way it is I am mobile in a way I have not been in years and years. Hyperbole?! No. These boots have made a difference in my life, but I know it sounds ridiculous. I hope you can find out for yourself.

The men's last fit me much better!

3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

I was shopping for a pair of boots for my "difficult" feet that I can wear indoors & out, stay warm & dry, and not appear too gosh-awful clunky in. (I'm in Western New York; when the weather gets cold & snowy, we get pretty broad latitude on shoe style!) I have not yet worn the boot for extended time, although it is very comfortable and very supportive, especially ankles. With a mild off-the-shelf orthotic for a bit more arch support, it's a perfect fit. But not in the women's last. I'm a pretty consistent size 9 in boots and shoes. Didn't know whether to size up or not for the expectation of heavier socks--so I tried the size 9. Length was okay, but squashingly narrow especially across ball of foot, toes, even in thin, slippery dress socks. Moved from a women's 9 to a men's 8.5--and got a great fit, accommodating heavier socks and an insert for arch support. In other words, the women's seems to run unusually narrow; sizing up in a women's last wouldn't have fixed the problem. My only regret is that I couldn't get the boot in purple... but black is okay!

Great for very narrow feet

3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

My daughter has very narrow feed, and it is rather difficult to find well-fitting shoes. The Renegade GTX Mid WS by Lowa Boots fit well from the beginning. My daughter was hiking 6-8 miles per day in the mountains with minimal break-in of the boots - no blisters, no pressure spots. She did need additional arch support. Once the arch support was in place, the shoes worked out perfectly.
