If you are on the fence about buying these boots, I'd tell you to go ahead and buy them. You will not regret this purchase. I have been looking for about 2 years for a black boot that I could wear all day- to work, then to whatever my day brings after 5pm - school meeings, dinner out, or just errands, withoug wanting to yank them off and rub my feet or just let them breathe. LOVE THESE BOOTS! Can't say enough how excitied I am to have these. I did not chek 'warm' becaue I don't feel they are too hot. I wear them with a thin paif of socks ot tights, and I never think about how hot my feet are. I have not trudged thru snow in them either, so that will have to be a follow up. love the buckle on the calf - I have thin calves - which is why it has taken me 2 yrs to find a pair of boots..I have them in just one notch, and you can barely tell-they still look good and it's not obvious. There isn't a lot of extra wrinkles and bulk to make it look clunky (Most boots have so much room in the calves that I look like a little girl playing dress-up in ig girl boots). I am 5'9 and 135(ish)lbs. I was concerend when I found they were Keen- most Keen footbeds are a bit wide and cumbersome on my feet. I was concerned the toe box would look clunky and make me walk like a clod. None of that is true- they are flexible and comfy, and I can walk quickly in them and feel sprye. They are well-made and substantial, but not too thick that the zipper makes everything so stiff around the ankle that they bulk or rub. Neither are they too thin that they don't hold their shape. Again - perfect. The sole is not too rubbery that it makes weird gripping sounds hwen you walk, yet I feel if I walked on rocky surfaces or slippery, I would have sufficient traction. I feel sassy when I wear them and my feet don't get tired in them or want to get out of them,.I litearally had them on from 630am until 9pm the first day I took them out of the box and wore them. These boots are made for walkin. And workin. And eveything else. I will have these boots for years.
These boots will go with skirts both denim and black knit, leggings tucked in and jeans over top. The only thing I feel I should say is that if I were not a narrow I think I would be sending them back. Since I am a narrow I am thrilled with them, and if your calf is larger they do adjust with buckle and elastic, soooo. Hope you can enjoy. The leather is gorgeous, and they are good looking and versatile.
I bought a size 9 1/2 of this boot and a size 9 of the the Keen Shelby because I wasn't sure which I would prefer. Sometimes the Keen sizes run a bit small but this 9/12 seemed to be sized right but it was still uncomfortable compared to the Shelby. It was more elegant than the Shelby and more appropriate for wearing with skirts, but I ended up keeping the Shelby and returning this one. The size 9 Shelby was very comfortable with more of the typical characteristics of the Keen brand and I've been very happy with my choice.
Great boots from Keen. I own 3 other pair of Keen shoes and sizing can be difficult from style to style. I find these boots are probably the most true to size of all Keens I have tried.
These are my go to boots for any occasion, they can be casual or a bit dressy (as dressy as you can get in snow, ice and cold...).
Comfort...a necessity more than a choice - I am heavily comfort driven due to back problems, spine surgery, neuropathy in my feet, etc. and am happy to say these are really comfortable - even all day and especially for walking. The only thing I would change is a better arch, but for most it is probably quite good.
Style...having to wear comfortable shoes 100% of the time has been a challenge for a life long shoe lover...but these boots have great style!!
Ordering a pair of tall waterproof brown in a different style today...I have high expectations now...
