These are versatile and solidly made. I know that Dr.'s have a break-in period, but the time it is taking to break these in is to long. The main problem is the quality of leather.

On my feet for 12 hrs a day and wouldn't wear any other shoe. My last pair of Dr. Martens lasted 6 years. Never had sore feet, always comfortable. Awesome looking shoes.

I bought these shoes for their looks, and i'm not disappointed! They will be good for a fancier occasion, too. They can be polished/shined, just in case. As for fit, Doc's should have put some kind of insole in them. I had to add a full-length insole in them. Other than that, I Love These Shoes!

I first got these shoes back in 1993 when they were made in England. I still have them, but now I'm getting them repaired so they can be used by family. I normally wear a 9.5 US, but since Dr. Martens don't come in half sizes, I had to round up to a 10, since I don't want my big toe rubbing on the steel toe. These shoes seem to be a looser fit than my other Doc's which happen to be steel toe boots (1942 and 8761). I'm guessing the added leather in the shaft of the boots relax and mold against my ankles, thereby allowing a better fit. These low tops don't have the added shafts to take up for the slack in the foot area. These shoes would be perfect if they had a cap toe and the more aggressive soles like the 8761's. I think I'll have to snug these up with some low profile insoles.

My comment is NOT about THE shoe that my son has been wearing for almost ten years... it is about the ONLINESHOES experience.

About once a year I take a look at my son's shoes and think to myself, since he choses to wear only one kind of shoe (to ride his motor scooters, work, play, date) almost everyday, he sure could use a new pair once in a while.

Though the shoes last forever, after about a year a new pair is in order. So I just started buying him a new pair through ONLINESHOES and having them delivered to his shop. How easy! ... and it is ALWAYS the right gift - delivered on time with NEVER a mistake.

I wear these shoes casually. They are comfortable once broken in. They do feel a bit wider than a medium width but that's no big deal. As the break in they can be laced tighter which compensates. They handle orthodics very well. A very good shoe. I highly recommend!
