I have mortons neuroma in both feet. I googled shoes that are good for this condition. I discovered this shoe. There is a paved walking park near my work where I like to walk 2 miles on my lunch hour. These are the ONLY athletic shoe I have found that doesn't aggravate my mortons neuroma even a little bit, even on the pavement. Believe me that is quite a feat. And I have tried many many expensive shoes. These are the only ones that work for me for walking.

I was looking for an athletic shoe with great traction for hiking that also looked good. Altra lone peak 2.5 fills my needs perfectly. I have a wide toe box, but a normal heel. Lone Peak accommodates the front of my wide foot, but the heel stays put. The cushion and the traction are everything I wanted in an athletic shoe. I removed the insert that came with the Altra and inserted a pair of superfeet to increase arch support. The shoes are pleasant to look at, not too gaudy or overly tricked out. I wore my Altras to physical therapy and the therapist loved the shoes. Functionally and aesthetically, they fit her standards, too.

I am a recent Altra convert after finding that yet again my foot has gotten bigger thanks to trail miles! After needing to go up yet another size, I decided to give Altras a try because they felt so light and looked wide. Wide isn't how I'd describe these shoes at all. They're actually SHAPED LIKE A FOOT. Instead of cramming all your toes together you can let your feet spread a little bit, giving you more stability and comfort. I even switched all my running shoes to Altra after trying these shoes out. As a hiking guide, I am on my feet all year round and these shoes will hold up to all conditions in the Southeast. I'd recommend this shoe to everyone!

I am a PICKY shoe kind of woman. It has to provide support and not cause discomfort after being on your feet for hours. This shoe gets a gold star!
