About Under Armour

Under Armour's quest to achieve high-performance comfort all started back in 1996 with one simple goal: to create a truly superior T-shirt. But company founder, former University of Maryland football player Kevin Plank, knew that in order to break new ground in the fitness apparel industry, this couldn't be just any shirt. It had to provide compression to boost muscle performance, and wick away perspiration off the skin rather than absorb it. This shirt needed to keep athletes cool and comfortable, dry and light. Tucked away in his grandmother's basement, Plank researched and tested the athletic benefits of synthetic fabrics, hoping to find a better alternative to sweat-soaked cotton shirts. Enter the first Under Armour HeatGear® T-shirt, simply named the #0037: the first shirt engineered to work with an athlete's body to regulate temperature and enhance performance…just one simple goal and one very impressive T-shirt.

Having long outgrown grandma's basement headquarters, the Under Armour brand has expanded its product assortment to include HeatGear® performance apparel for hot temps, ColdGear® for chilly workouts, and AllSeasonGear® for everything in between. Under Armour's advanced technology and diverse product line for men and women strive to "Make all athletes better through passion, design and the relentless pursuit of innovation."
