Got this in a AA for my narrow flat feet. I stand quite a lot and do a fair amount of driving with work. I think they serve that purpose well. Stable. What I don't like is the fact that they can get hot and sweaty over the course of a long day. They have ventilation holes but they don't seem to serve much purpose. The shoes are made of leather so this is the cause of the heat.

After breaking my ankle, I am able to wear these shoes all day long while standing at work. They are comfortable and supportive with plenty of room in case your feet tend to swell. The black leather style doesn't look like typical athletic shoes and can be worn with casual pants. I do wish they came in more colors (brown would be good).

This is a great shoe if you have any kind of foot problems. It was recommended years ago to me by my podiatrist and I have bought it ever since. I wear it everywhere and my feet don't hurt! it gives great support, it comes in wider widths, and holds up over time. It may cost a little more than a shoe you can buy elsewhere, but it is worth it.

Truly the best sneakers support wise. I have foot problems and my foot dr recommended these to me. I have since bought 4 more pair and I love them. They are great for the treadmill (I walk 2-3 miles a day) and are real helpful to me during work since I clean houses and am on my feet most of the time. They are "prettier" than most support sneakers/shoes and I like that too. I would love to see the roll bar accent in something other than a sneaker and would love something more summery as switching to flip flops/thongs/sandals is never a good thing for me. Took them with me to Salem Mass this past month and never had a foot issue the whole time---great sneaks!

I specifically bought this pair of walking shoes for my everyday, twice a day walk with my dog rain, or shine. I did not find it comfortable -too tight and pinching my big toe bone between my toe to my arch. Also, I find it's a little too loose at the ankle so there is little support there.
I like it that it is leather because I don't have to worry about using it in the rain. Other than that, I can't find anything more that is great about it. I kept it, but am not thrilled about it.

Bottom Line:
Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

No other shoe I've tried feels as good or lasts as long as the New Balance 811. This is the only shoe I wear because no other I've tried
accepts my orthotic ankle braces, and still feels comfortable.
Prior to finding this shoe I replaced my shoes every 3 months. This shoe lasts me 6 months as an everyday shoe and longer as a scuff shoe for gardening and walking in the woods.
Please, never discontinue this shoe!
