The two most important things I need for my feet are proper arch support and a roomy toe box. The Archrocker technology in this shoe is very good. The arch shank should come up to meet your own arch, otherwise you will feel fatigue and pain in your legs, thighs and back. Proper alignment is essential. I wear this shoe with medium weight socks and this keeps me moving forward with ease.
The shoes are light as a feather, they have a fairly good grip on the bottom of the sole and the mesh allows for air to circulate. I wear a 38N in a Euro, an 8 in American sizes and I usually buy a half size larger in an athletic shoe. The 8 1/2 fits perfect. If you have had faciitis in your foot, this shoe will help to heal and stabilize your walk. It is very comfortable and I like the normal "tie" shoes. I feel the tie allows you to adjust the ankle so the ankle also feels sturdy and stabilized. The reason this is important is that the ankle will not twist or tweak if you step on gravel or rocks the wrong way. It will remain secure.
As we age, good arch support becomes more and more important. I highly recommend these shoes for people with problem feet or high arches. It is also a very good price for a shoe with all these redeeming qualities.

Must comfortable shoes I have every tried from day 1. Got my first pair of wide shoes. Only have been able to find medium width in my area. Great arch support. All my other Avia shoes I had to add an arch support intersole for proper fit. These have great arch support built in.
