I ordered this shoe to wear in wet and messy weather. I like it because it has Gortex and the sole and bottom of the shoe is surrounded by rubber. Sometimes you don't want to wear a snow boot especially when it's not snowing. But the streets may be soaked and muddy or slushy and salty ruining a good leather shoe. It can be worn as a casual shoe and that makes it good for a winter trip. Can be worn on the plane or packed and not take up as much room as a boot. Easy to slide on and off as it doesn't tie. The elastic strap which is hidden under the tongue it pretty tight and I recommend a lightweight sock or else your sock gets all bunched up and the strap is too tight. It walks like an athletic shoe.

I'm a teacher in New York, so I walk to and from the train every day, and then I'm on my feet for hours. It wasn't uncommon for me to end my day feeling I needed to have my feet replaced. While these don't make me feel like I'm walking on clouds or anything, they do give me the support to get through my day. I wouldn't wear them if I was trying to look cute, but I don't have any hope of impressing my middle schoolers with my style, anyway.
