I use these as my everyday everything shoes walking mostly
they are great because I finally found a shoe that fits and doesn't hurt they acually support my feet and they feel better I feel like I can walk anywhere now its just what I needed years ago
the only aren't so great is I did buy the 844 series first and of the two pair seem to like the 844's better can't really pinpoint why maybe its only mental they cost a little more so I guess just a get what you pay for thing and the 558's are great had I bought them first I would have probably stuck with them for the money and instantly picked up another pair they were that much better than the shoes I had before New Balance its just now I will have to decide between two great shoes which to buy next time I need shoes

I have been a fitness walker for over 20 years and am now 72. Many years ago I tried the NB 2E and have never "looked back". I walk 5-7 days a week for about 45 minutes each session and find the fit and durability are great for my purpose. I also wear the shoe with shorts and jeans most days.

astounding arch support. ive owned scores of newbies and these are by far the ones with the most arch support. i can tell when a pair of my sneakers are worn out: my ankle starts to get very sore and tight. with as much arch support as these offer, ive never once had a sore ankle. bad in wet conditions just like all walkers are. great for walking on pavement and concrete.
breathable and durable.
got them filthy once camping and they looked near new after a date with the washing machine.
the absolute best buy ive ever gotten on newbies.
a teeny tiny bit narrow in the toebox very much like the 800 series trail hikers.
seriously, i wish i bought two pairs the last time around.
