I purchased these shoes as a gift for my brother in law. We wanted them to be for "dressy casual" occasions. They are great for that. Don't expect them to be athletic shoes or even trail shoes. They're not built that way. Personally, I would even want more support and cushioning in a walking shoe than these have. They are very handsome and seem very well made of nice materials and he likes them very much. He doesn't wear a wide shoe normally, but he had to have these in a half size larger than he wears in other brands and he also needed a wide (EE, not EEEE). Even then, they were a little snug. Shoe size is about 1/2 size small in my opinion. Nice looking shoe. Would I order again? Yes but a 1/2 size bigger! I wear a wide width size and the width is a bit snug. Perhaps ordering a 1/2 size bigger will solve this. Interstingly I ordered another pair of New Balance (same size and width) shoes ( different model number) and they fit perfect. Thus I think its the shoe design itself that makes it 1/2 size to small.

Just when I was giving up on New Balance because of their stupid improvements, I tried the 627 and was completely satisfied. The other "600 series" after the 601 were alful.

I bought this for my son who has had issues with pronation and wore orthotics to correct a leg discrepancy. He said that he has had no fatigue issues wearing this shoe and would highly recommend it. He works on concrete floors at his job and on difficult terrain at home and has found it to be an outstanding shoe. I am putting in my son's location.
