I got the double xx wide (Iwas so glad to have a choice of something beside medium) but it seems that the arch could be higher for me, while still requiring the wide toe box.

These shoes were comfortable after just a few minutes. However they are not waterproof. I walk a lot in wet grass and my socks were wet in less than an hour.

These were comfortable from the start. I have wide feet with high arches so there are a limited number of boots that work for me. There was enough room in the extra-wide (5E) size to insert an arch support without removing the insole and still wear an extra-cushioned hiking sock. They are easy to slip into even with swollen feet from a day off after extended long distance hiking. With little to no break-in I took these to Colorado to hike in Rocky Mtn NP. They handled the (rather groomed) trails with ease and performed well on the rock scramble atop Estes Cone as well as the keyhole route above the Boulder Field of Longs Peak. The rubber on the top front edge of the boots is starting to separate from the leather so the jury is still our regarding just how durable this model is.

Instantly comfortable when I put these on, I did not have to break these in. The bottom has a very soft cushion that absorbs the shock of daily walking.
Very, Very Comfortable, I will buy another pair.
