No, I would not recommend this to a friend
I would order 1/2 size larger than needed. I don't have wide feet at all and the shoes rubbed on both little toes enough to defeat the purpose of taking them on a walking trip instead of bulky tennis shoes. I am not in love with them.

Great shoe. Used them hiking a few times and I have no complaints. The shoes are very comfortable.
