I LOVE these shoes. I was leery of the Maple color, but I've grown to love it. I have narrow feet and the toe box (area only) is really roomy. Slightly thicker socks solve this issue for me. I wear a size 10.5 in Adidas/New Balance and 11 in Nike, but purchased a size 10 in the Salomon XA Comp 3 GTX. I live in northern Michigan and have all weather conditions. I had absolutely no break in period...great from the first wearing on a rugged trail hike in the sleeting snow. My feet stayed warm and 100% dry (I was wearing SmartWool socks...I would recommend wool or silk socks for cold temp. outside use). I wear these everywhere from the grocery store, Christmas shopping all day, gym, long speed walks on pavement, to the rugged trails. Once these shoes are on, they rarely come off until bed time or change of attire. I'm always receiving compliments and inquiries about these Salomons.

I liked the XA Comp 3 GTX Salomon shoes so much that I decided to give the Salomon XA Pro 3D a style whirl (this is the non-water proof Pro 3D version). I definitely recommend ordering a half size smaller in the XA Pro 3D style, I ordered a 9.5 in the color: Mouse-X,Black,Maple-X, and they fit like a charm...made for me. They run larger and a bit narrower in toe box with slightly higher arch as compared to XA Comp 3 GTX. BOTH SHOE Styles SO, SO COMFY.

I love the Salomon XA COMP 3 GTX shoes...I just can't say enough...order them...you will not be sorry.

P.S. Salomon lacing system ROCKS. No more untied shoes while exercising. Easy on and off without breaking down heels if your in a hurry. I now hate to tie my other athletic shoes. My Salomon laces do not loosen up after my original adjustment when putting on shoes.
Some reviewers mentioned they had lace wear trouble. I have had no trouble with the lacing system wearing or breaking, but only 2 mons. old. I'm crossing my fingers.
