I've never put on a shoe that was this comfortable. I thought I was walking on pillows while I was climbing in caves and rocks. I didn't get a chance to break them in before going climbing and they did an also job of not letting me slip on wet rocks and kept my feet warm and dry, since it was pouring down rain. Except when we went into a cave that had a stream with puddles, my foot was soaked. Don't get water on top of the shoe, the tongue isn't water resistant at all. When I got them home I threw them in the washer and air dryed and they looked and felt like new again.

I purchased this shoe for a cruise that involved alot of walking and exploring of islands on some uneven and wet terrain. They were perfect for the job: light weight, water resistant and great traction on the sole. Like previous reviewers, I also did not have to break them in. In fact, I hadn't even worn them before the trip. I was very happy with the fit and performance. I also love the brown and blue color combination. I will not hesitate to buy more Merrell shoes in the future!

I work as an order selector and walk approx. 8 miles nightly on cement floors. My shoes have lasted me 5 years and the ones before 4. The sole, understandable, wears out before the upper. I also wear them everyday, everywhere, in all conditions and when we go hiking, I reach for them too. I have no other shoes in my closet that gets more attention. Seriously!
