These shoes follow the Keen tradition of being both durable and comfortable. These boots are probably as lightweight as a pair of the H2 sandals, but with all of the extra support and function of a hiking boot. Keen Dry technology seems like it will hold up well, but still has yet to be tested in full monsoon conditions.
One complaint, and something that I may be echoing from other reviews here, is that my right boot seems to have some minor defect in the tongue of the boot that rubs against the top of my foot- especially on the downhills. I can't find any actual problem when inspecting the boot, but I will have to find a solution before I take these boots for any long-distance journey.
Otherwise, the boots are a delight! Truly lightweight and solid in construction. As far as the size differences that are also mentioned in reviews go, my pair seems to be a perfect fit- though I did opt for 1/2 size larger than my sandals after reading the warnings on this site. I think they're great though. Highly recommended with a small side of caution for the strange and irritating bump in the tongue.
I love the lightweight and waterproof rolled into one.
I really wanted to like this boot: it's lightweight, great looking, and got excellent reviews from users. I ordered a half-size up, but they were still too small, so I exchanged them for a full size larger. Still, 40 minutes into my hike, my right foot was killing me. I guess it's just one of those things ... not all brands will fit all feet. (For example, Nike shoes fit me great, New Balance shoes don't) [...] No worries! I'm going to select "Recommend to a Friend" based on the many happy reviewers and because I think Keen makes a good boot. Just because they didn't fit my foot doesn't mean they won't fit yours ...
I purchased these boots for hiking and for wearing to my kids various field events in rainy, mucky conditions. They look great, have great traction, are easy to get on and off and had a lot of room in the toe box. But, I had to return them because they were too narrow. I usually wear a size 6 and took everyone's advice and ordered a size up but they were still too narrow for my wide feet. If you have average width feet, ordered a size up and you should be fine but this shoe is not for those with wide width feet.
These boots fit like a glove, provided great stability in rocky terrain. I hiked five hours without a red spot, blister or other uncomfortable place on my feet.
I would recommend these to everyone. And yes I agree with others that ordering a half size bigger is necessary
I love these boots, the minute I put them on my tired feet get happy. They have great arch support. I feel like hiking all the time. They run a little small, order 1/2 - 1 size larger. Hiking boots should have some toe wiggle room, and who cares if your feet look enormous.
These boots are comfortable out of the box. I am on my second pair. They are very durable, water proof and I love them.
Hiked 30 miles in these shoes without much "breaking in." After about 20 miles the mid-height support starting hurting my a bit, but that may just be a problem with the shoes' fit to my legs specifically. Footbed is very comfortable, even for me, with a very low arch, i.e., there is enough support. They are not that breathable, but I wasn't expecting too much as they are waterproof. Also, when I first received the shoes, the insert in one of them was not properly inserted so it was creased and it took some work to flatten it. It has not been a problem since. They look very nice for hiking boots!
I love Keens....and this is my first boot....and I am in love with it. Perfect fit, so comfortable!
All the reviews were correct, runs half size smaller, order accordingly. Feel great right out of the box. Great arch, heel and ankle support.
This boot is very comfortable to wear to work all day and I walk on a concrete floor! I did order a half size larger than I normally wear because I've read that Keen runs a little small and I'm glad I did. There is plenty of toe room wearing socks with medium thickness. I paid full price for these and now that they're on sale, I've thought about ordering a second pair for when these wear out. But I'll think about it... might order another style of Keen instead.
Great boots! I wore them in Maine in February and they kept my feet dry. They aren't insulated, but with good wool socks and maybe some foot warmers they work fine for colder weather. Highly recommended for hikes! Great traction on wet and slippery rocks and great support for your ankles. Very light weight and comfortable, even after all day hiking in them.
A was refer to this brand by a good friend and I was very happy to find a hiking boot in my size which is 5, with such great arch support and comfort. First day I wore them it was a 6 mile hike and my feet felt great and no blisters.
i use these shoes everday. my legs feel strong when i walk and my back feels better since i've been wearing them.
this is the second pair of these ive bought. i had them recommended by a friend and then recommended them to another friend who is just as happy as i am.
I have yet to wear this shoe because every pair I've tried has some sort of manufacturing defect. In one shoe only, there was an air bubble under the footbed where it wasn't stitched down properly; this meant it was very uncomfortable to wear for more than a couple minutes. I'm disappointed that Keen doesn't have better quality control
I went through 4 pairs of these boots before I finally gave up. The two problems I kept on finding were 1) the padding in the cuff around the ankle was folded over, making an uncomfortable lump, and 2) the footbed, if you take the innersole out, has this really uncomfortable air bubble/lump right under the place where your heel and arch join. Bad news.
I'd buy a pair in a heartbeat if I thought they'd fixed the problem. But in four pairs of shoes, all four had one or the other of these problems.
This is my first pair of Keens, and I love them! Wore them in the snow at Yosemite, and they were warm and definitely water resistant. Comfortable enough to wear all day around the house, also. They run small - I went up a whole size to get a good fit.
Have a bad foot and keen is the best!!!
My wife and I both have a pair and love them! They are light weight and can be worn for long periods without foot discomfort. We both had to get 1/2 size bigger than what we usually wear.
I like the fact that it is easy to put on because it has hooks on the top to lace the boot. I did have to buy a half size larger, but that seems to be the case with all other boots that I buy through Keen. This boot is extremely comfortable and they do not feel heavy.
These Keen boots are great! I have had them for a couple of weeks and had to do some breaking in, but they are great now. The breaking in was with the outside edge of one shoe.
They have a wide toe box which I like. I read the other reviews of this boot and decided to go a whole size bigger. I ususally wear a 9 and got a 10 this time and I am very happy with that. Have not had a chance to see if they are water resistent. They have great ankle support. I am very happy with my puchase.
This boot ran small requiring a full sixe up from my regular size. It is comfortable to wear and didnot requiring breaking in time. It was however not water proof and the traction was fair on slick terrain.
This shoe was comfortable the first time that I wore it hiking. So far, I'm quite pleased.
I own 5 pairs of Keens and they all fit very well. However, this pair is my first experience with having one shoe hurt my foot while the other shoe felt great! I even exchanged them for a larger size hoping that would solve the "mis-fit" only to find that, again, the left shoe hurt my foot and the right shoe felt wonderful.
