I bought this shoe as a hiking and backpacking shoe and I absolutely love it. I have hiked hunderds of miles over rocks, dirt, wet, snow and they have done everything I could have wanted. I especially like the support, even carrying a 50 pound pack, with the firm sole plate. I am buying my second pair as although they are great; they do eventually wear out.

I wear these shoes every day pretty much all the time. I don't actually do much trail running, since I live in the city, so I can't comment on that aspect of them. They are a little warm of course, since they are Gore-Tex, but that is expected and is a plus in cool weather. They look great and I love the toughness of them. If they get a little dirty I can just hose them off or scrub them with a towel and don't have to worry about it. I haven't had them long enough to tell how they will wear, but so far so good. No complaints!

I purchased this shoe in hopes of finding a true trail shoe with the bennefits of a running shoe. I have run two marathons and are considered a heavy pounder. My weight is 215. I recently ran a 5k that I thought was all road. I discovered before the race that more than half the course was serious trails. Moreover, there had been heavy rain the night before. Lots of mud. I switched to my Vasque just before the race. I turned in my best 5k time ever, place second in my division, and never slipped at any point of the race. I truly found a TRAIL RUNNING SHOE.
