I take 2-3hr hikes once or twice a week and have been using light hikers for years. Mostly Merrells. Knees problems forced me into rethinking my hiking shoe usage. I tried the Salomon based on reviews and recommendations and have been very happy with the choice.
The Salomon trail shoe reduced my knee pain significantly. I beleive this is due to the flat heel design(common in running shoes). In addition the fast lace system works great. I have a low volume foot but have a Morgan toe. I struggle between selecting sizes due to this situation. the Salomon lacing system solves this problem. I go with the larger size and the lacing system takes up the added volume of the larger size
The Salomon seems to run narrow. Also, the grip on rocky or uneven terrain is not as good as hiking shoes but for light hiking thier more then adaquate.
