Pretty nice shoes. Light and comfortable. Unfortunately I have a too sensitive left feet!! Small stitch on the left shoe ruin my overall positive experience.
This is a great shoe in every respect but the very poor sizing design. I don't know why it should be so difficult for NB to get this right but this shoe is a full size too small. I lined it up sole to sole with my New Balance 871 and although they're both 8.5 this one was visibly smaller. When I'm wearing them my toes butt up against the top edge making it uncomfortable to wear and impossible to run in. Of course this is no big deal if you're buying it from a shop and can chop and change, but beware when, like I, you are buying over the internet and need to get it right first time, I recommend a full size or a full size and a half bigger. Disappointing for an otherwise beautiful shoe aesthetically and performancewise.
I got my pair of NB790TR in the mail and the next day went out for a 15 mile trail run. The shoes felt wonderful and extremely lightweight. I felt as though I were running barefoot or had a pair of slippers on. They made me feel stronger and more powerful in my running. I am planning on trying them out on the road tonight and I believe they will feel just as good. Thanks New Balance for making such a wonderful shoe.
I'm no athlete. More of a casual wearer. But, these shoes are light and feel great. I have described them like "wearing slippers". The only downside to these shoes is that they do not come in wide widths and they do seem a little narrow. I orderd up a half size to solve that problem and they are truley one of the most comfortable pair of sneakers I have ever owned. Wear these on rainy days at your own risk...with the low profile sole, a puddle is a sock soaking pond.
This the lightest, most stable, and durable shoe I have ever owned. And it looks just as good in the lounge after a workout. I now own three pairs.
I do valet parking, so I run back and forth all day at work. These are shoes fit great, they are light, were on sale, stylish, black, whats not to love? dont look like they will fall apart any time soon either.
Only thing is, they arent going to be good for running in a forest preserve or a place with jagged surfaces like rocks because the lightweight design sacrifices padding on bottom. But if you dont plan on using these babies in a forest preserve, you MUST get them
Extremely comfortable to wear and not difficult to break in.
These are great shoes particularly because they allow your feet to feel the ground like they are supposed to. You get feedback from your feet with every step you take and this allows your brain to make adjustments where necessary that affect your posture along the entire chain from foot to head. Bulked up squishy running shoes interfere with this feedback mechanism and lead to more injuries not less (especially when training with weights). Your feet also get weaker because they don't have to flex much in overly cushioned shoes. Training barefoot is optimal but if you have to be running or training on ground that can damage your feet these shoes are the next best thing.
I use them for everything. The best things about them are how lightweight they are, how breathable they are and that they have good traction and are snug like a second skin giving you more power.
I haven't found anything I don't like about them.
When you find something good, like these shoes, you don't have to worry, you can just wear them and go. You know you will be fine, no matter what you encounter, your shoes will be there for you.
I feel ten times lighter...
Great for racing, not for training...
Looks like the traction might wear out sooner than later...
Best runner I have owned in a long time -
These shoes were far lighter and more comfortable than I expected.
Disclaimer -- I am a mild pronator and land midfoot (trying to achieve POSE).
I liked the concept of this shoe (cool looking), but found them very very uncomfortable and couldn't think of a worse place to run with these shoes than the description -- trail/offroad.
Basically, this is a corrective shoe (large diamond shaped ridge stationed about midfoot)... but they are also thin -- nearly like a sprinters shoe. I was just confused and found them very uncomfortable. Put them on after an offroad race and wore them for a day. It actually felt like I had a rock in my shoe the whole time and my right foot hurt for days afterwards. Whole experience really just had me puzzled.
Love New Balance, I just couldn't get into these sharp looking shoes.
Great running or in the gym shoe. Very lightweight and comfortable
great light weight trail runner. good on trail or road. not a lot of support or cushioning, but that's the trade off for a 9oz shoe. this shoe is built for speed not cushioning or durability. not sure if i'd want to run a marathon in these or try to blaze trails in the wilderness, but they were perfect for a trail 10k.
Very good shoe. VERY lightweight and comfortable. Would recommend to anybody
This is a great-looking shoe that is extremely light, and low-key enough to wear with street clothes, even in a semi-casual environment.
The traction is a bit lacking - slippery on smooth surfaces - but that's the only downside I have found.
Be sure to buy it here at onlineshoes, as they have the best price around - and I did quite a bit of looking.
A very good trail racing flat. Quite light. No support. Not great protection from rocks.
Great for both racing and just walking around town. Very stylish and comfortable.
The shoe fits well. the weight is very freeing and the shoe looks great. Best New Balance look yet. Worn all day on concrete you will walk ginger in these. Will buy these again.
BESIDES BEING LIGHT AND BREATHABLE TO MY FEET, THEY ARE VERY COLORFUL AND I GET COMPLIMENTS EVERYWHERE I GO.
I like the feel of these shoes. Lightweight, easy to put on and take off, and keeps my feet dry. The only con I have against these shoes is the traction. On wet pavement, there is a chance for slipping.
it's perfect for runing and outdoor
I purchased my second pair in august, to use as specifically for races. I wear my first pair (purchased in January) casually and for training. This shoe is not for heavy heel strikers who want to stay that way. This is for people who land mid-foot or forefoot and people who would like to stop heel striking (I'm in this category). My running form has improved drastically due to the minimalist nature of the heel (no more relying on cushioning to correct the terrible beating my legs take from heel striking), and also due to the light weight (they're so light that it almost feels like your running in a very very comfortable pair of socks). They work great for 5-10k racing on any surface, and they're quick to get on in transitions for triathlons. They're incredibly versatile (I'm even using my first pair for fast day hiking with a pair of gaiters to keep debris out of the top). I have about 150 miles of serious running on my original pair and expect to get a lot of off season running/hiking/running out of them still.
This is a good all-around shoe that I bought for my boyfriend. He now has the same shoe in 4 different colors--I guess he really likes them!
So far they have just been used as casual shoes but would be great for running with the weight and fit. The only part I have a bit of a problem with is then design of the width of the grips on the sole causes pressure from the individual knobs. Might be better to have the knobs closer together.
I did not realize when I ordered this shoe that it was a trail runner. I purchased the MR790BK for urban and treadmill running, and I was pleasantly surprised by the performance on all surfaces. This is my first of many purchases from New Balance.
These shoes have held up quite well, calming my fears that they would wear quickly. In fact I ran 14 miles and felt great afterward. I love the feather-weight feel. A great shoe for running and for style.
This shoe is perfect for Cross Country. I bought two pairs of 790 New Balance. It feels supportive, light, and comfortable all at the same time. I have reccommended this shoe to all the athletes on my team.
I bought this shoe as a gift for my boyfriend--he already had the grey/orange pair. Even though he told me he didn't want the shoe in black, I couldn't pass up the deal from onlineshoes.com. He wears this shoe almost every day--he calls it his "dress gym shoes". They look good with cargo shorts, jeans, workout wear, etc. He's even considering buying it in another color because he said they are so comfortable!
This is a good pair of shoes for walking. Not running.
It is very light weight and the grey/yellow combination make you stand out in the crowd.
I would recommend it.

Like other NB trail shoes they are real slick in the wet. I don't run in them but do wear them at work were wet floors and miles of walking are the norm. They are great because of their weight and keeps leg fatigue down, cold use a little more cushion but overall it is ok. Not made in the USA like other NB shoes I have had in the past. Oh and I am a 220 pound hunk of man meat and so far they are holding up to the mileage I put on them at work on a nightly basis anywhere between 6-8 miles
This is the lightest most comfortable shoe I have ever worn. As soon as I put it on it felt like it was already broken in. Mainly because the shoe is almost entirely made of mesh. Well constructed, double stiched, and stylish. The only thing I did not like about the shoe was the "tab" on the heel. It would rub the back of my ankle, more specifically when I wore jeans, the jeans would get caught between the tab and my ankle...So I just cut it off. I am seriously thinking about getting a few more pairs being that in the past when I found a shoe I loved, I could never find it again. I would not recommend wearing this shoe in wet weather because it is made of mesh.

Good shoe for trail-specific runners training for races or racing shorter distances.
