This is a great low-top hiking shoe, but maybe a little too sturdy for fast trail running.
It has the same Push Through Protection Plate (PTPP) midsole as the more expensive Adidas Kumasi XCR M, but without the Gore Tex upper, which I think is unecessary on a low-top shoe. The Gore Tex adds a little warmth, if you need that, but it also adds weight, and reduces breathability. Even with the Gore Tex, your foot's going to get wet if the water comes up to the lace holes, so what's the point?
I think the Gore Tex upper also takes longer to dry after your foot gets wet. OnlineShoes.com lists PTPP as a feature of the Adidas
Kumasi XCR M, but not of this Adidas Kumasi M. I think that's a mistake.

The PTPP midsole offers the best protection I've had from rocks and roots - it feels more protective than the Vibram sole on a heavy leather hiking boot, yet still flexes in the proper crease under the forefoot.
The sole doesn't look that rugged, but I've had great traction on mud, wet rocks, snow and ice.
The toe box is extra roomy, and more round than pointed, so thre's room for wide feet, and thick socks. But the lace holes are spaced wide, so it should be easy to tighten up on narrower feet.
The heel counter is sturdy and firm, and the toe is well protected by a rubbery bumper.

I put them on right out of the box to see how they broke in over a full day wear. I was delighted. They required no break in and made no hot spots. They may run a quarter size small, because I ordered a ten and wear a nine and a half (Online was out of nine and a half) and they fit fine. I do like a little extra room in the toe box for decents on rough terrain to avoid toenail injury and toe strike on the inside of the shoe. I like the spongy nature of the sole components that improves under impact and you feel it get softer the harder your footstrike is. I have to admit I bought them for general training and even to wear to 24 hour shifts and have been very impressed. If they wear well (Had them 2 months) I won't be able to find much wrong with them. I would buy them again, and may aquire a second pair. Absolutely recommend.
