Bought these for comfort and I got what I paid for. Very comfortable everyday footwear. I bought wide-width but might have been able to wear a regular width since the wides are so roomy.

This color is black or grey which makes the boot seem really worn. If you don't like to wear stuff that looks brand new -- this is the boot for you. After a few months they look like I've worn them for years! That could be a con except they are still very comfortable for everyday wear.

One other thing I will point out is that the shoe strings are a tad too short. I had to change to 72s to get a comfortable tie across the tongue.

I was looking for a pair of lighter weight hiking boots to replace a vert durable pair that were slightly too narrow. The desert mountains around Albuquerque offer trails that are mostly dry rock with small pebbles that can make descent a slippery proposition and many low lying cactus that can penetrate lightweight boots. The sole design offers good grip and overall flexibility helps contribute to stable footing. The oiled leather although relatively thin appears tough, but I have not had any direct impacts with cactus or sharp rocks yet. All in all these appear to be the right boots for our environment and for light hiking.

Bought a pair originally at a local retailer and loved them so much I bought a second pair ([...] as a back up. Comfortable "right out of the box", they only got better after a week of casual around-the-house wearing and are now my favorite all-around shoe. After removing the delivered insole my orthotics dropped right in. The low and wide heel design meant that my orthotic did not raise my foot too far out of the heel box, which helped maintain stability. The shoe passed my "roll test" very well... walking sideways along a steep hill with about about a 30 to 40 degree incline, with no roll-off. While the built in goretex boot does keep my feet dry, I noticed that the tongue padding will absorb and hold water if you stand in deep enough water. This left the top of my foot feeling cool and wet. When I later took off the shoe I found that my foot was actually dry, and it was just the wet padding on the tongue that gave me this impression. This won't be an issue for normal hiking through wet grass, but avoid standing in ankle deep water with these shoes.

I have nothing bad to say about these boots. They are my new everything boot. I can take a hike through rough country and then jump on my touring motorcycle and head anywhere, brush off the dust and go out to dinner in them. They are the most comfortable and well made boot I have ever owned. As soon as I put them on, it felt like I had worm them for years and they had become perfectly broken in. They have taken the place of my Redwing motorcycle boots and my Nike hiking shoes. Although they are very tough, they are also very comfortable. I ordered my gorlfriend a pair too.
