This is a great looking and overall comfortable shoe for day hikes and longer outdoor trips. Only gripe I have is with the shape of the tongue, which could be more cushioning and better fitting.

Timberland is a great company and I replaced this boot with another one and it's great (model 15130?). The problem with this boot are the clips and laces. the clips are plastic and one broke when I was trying it on. The laces are shaped, and will only go into the clips a certain way. So, when the laces wear out you will have to find special laces that work. Otherwise the boot was a little stiff, but nice.

a contradiction in fit and comfort
By Idaho SpudKidVerified Purchaser from Dallas Texas on 10/30/2007

Pros:
Durable, Great Traction, Non-slip sole, Stable, Water Resistant
Cons:
Stiff in the ankle area
Best Uses:
Backcountry, Day hikes, Wet Weather
Describe Yourself:
Casual/ Recreational
Bottom Line:
No, I would not recommend this to a friend

The interior material is a harsh mesh, strong, but abrasive. That along with the stiffness of the upper collar made the shoe undesirable to me. The fit of the shoe directly around the foot was totally perfect. The bellows tongue created a large bunch of material that pressed directly on the top of the foot, making it very uncomfortable.

Wore these boots for day hikes in mountain terrain. They are comfortable & stable with good traction. Only negative is the lacing system. They are difficult to lace but otherwise very good.
