Good fit and excellent support but poor traction on wet friction slabs. I used these hikers in Acadia NP on the Jordan Cliffs trail. It had rained the previous day and the trail had occasional wet areas. I was surprised at how easily the chameleon evo vibram soles slipped on wet rock. I expected better traction and can not recommend these shoes for hiking.
i buy two pair of merrells a year for my husband, who has a lawn business. this is the first style that has given him heel blisters. the back of the shoe comes up a bit higher than normal, causing awkward positioning for all day walking. if you buy this shoe, don't forget the box of band aids.
As others have noted they seemed a little firm at first, but loosened right up with the first wear. I was having problems keeping the shoe laces tied until I added one more loop around on tying.
I really like these shoes. They are great looking and very comfortable.
As mentioned, this is a very attractive & sturdy shoe, also waterproof. I enjoy wearing these for extended periods, especially outside in cold weather. Not cheap, but if they have a long life it will be well worth it. Not the type of shoe to go out of use or fashion either since it's a "middle ground" type of shoe- OK for business casual as well as casual.
outstaning support while walking, fits like a glove
