I received my Altitude IV boots about 2 weeks before hiking 60+ miles in the French-Italian Alps. The boots worked great. During about 30 miles of break in walks at home and the trip in the Alps no blisters or hot spots plus dry in 3 days of hiking in rain. Very sturdy boots, a good value for the money. The only problem as been when walking in thick brush sometimes the laces come off the top hooks.

I've been wearing variations of this model for several years. I preferred the older ones because the uppers were lower and fit my high instep better, however after trying other similiar styled brands, this one still fits me best.

Narrow tongue

For light trail hiking this boot is working out great. Feels like wearing a tennis shoe. I don't think I would use it for cross country or rough trail use. The tongue is a little narrow and doesn't seal out dirt and weeds as well as a boot that has a tongue that can be tucked in on the sides and laced over.

I just ordered my third pair. These last between 1 to 1-1/2 years with near everyday use. Never had one leak. Extremely comfortable. My only complaint is the toes start to curl up after about a year. My reason for replacing them. I guess if they last that long, that is not really a complaint. I love these boots. I've been wearing this brand and model for over 3 years now and will be for at least another year or two.

The Altitude IV boots offer the kind of comfort and support I need, in addition to being waterproof and insulated. They're so comfortable, I wear them all the time; they're terrific for everyday wear. I have purchased several pairs of Hi-Tec boots over the years, and I have found the Altitude IV to be my favorite in overall comfort, fit, durability and style.

Just bought pair # 3 of this style. My husband has heel spurs on one foot, bunions on the other, and this in the only shoe that relieves the discomfort. He wears them for gardening, woodworking, home projects, even wears them preaching in church! That is why he has 3 pair. The steel shank supports the arch area which helps with all the foot problems. Highly recommend.

I went on a five mile hike wearing your Altitude IV. I had fantastic hike. While other adults and some of the boys complained about their feet after the first mile, I was walking in comfort. My son also had on a pair of Altitude IV and it made all the difference between misery and an enjoyable day. When other boys fell to the wayside with blisters, my son and I were in comfort all day. The boots were a great fit and a good example to others. When it rained, it didn't bother me. The feet remained dry as a bone. At the end of the day, my son and I were the happiest campers there.
