Great shoe, very comfortable, true to fit. Looks great too. [...] shoes were in great condition, no complains
This is my 2nd pair of these. I wore the last pair just about everyday for 2 years. They are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I noticed that Merrell has gotten away from a 1 piece upper (I'm assuming to save $) I don't know how the new design will hold up. But I'll wear them for a while & let you know.
I wear this shoe with casual clothes in place of athletic (tennis) shoes. The shoe is comfortable, stylish and even looks good with khakis. I would not recommend this shoe for serious backpacking or hiking. Very comfortable shoe.
Pretty good buy. Interesting colors. Adjustable lace system is a novelty, probably only to be used once, it adds in extra parts to fail in the field. One reviewer here reports complete failure of this system. Comes with factory applied DWR treatment, not that such a low cut shoe would really benefit form that. Breathability is not very good because of the layered leather design.
I've walked maybe 200 or so miles in these shoes over the years I've owned them, on pavement and trails. First maybe 20 miles the shoes had a terrible squeak. I replaced the insoles with Superfeet green. The squeaking persisted, so I used a file and roughed up the bottom of the Superfeet, the problem all along was not the shoe but the insoles. There is only minor wear on the shoes finish, the leather is pretty tough. The colors in the leather have faded considerably from when I've gotten these shoes. Suede doesn't like to stay green it would rather be its natural color. The real leather parts over the suede have also lightened. Also the faulty shoelace that the shoe came with finally failed and I replaced it with some elastic lock laces.
Pros:
-Tough mostly suede leather construction. No tears or rips.
-Plastic toe and heel caps
-Rigid foam/rubber soles break in to be quite smooth and flexible.
-Very wide toothed, grippy, Vibram sole.
Cons:
-Adjustable nylon lacing system introduces about 7 pieces of thin plastic to the shoes design that are completely unnecessary. When I was trying shoes on in the store, I attempted to tighten the lacing system and it snapped the buckle on that particular shoe. Sales man convinced me it was a fluke and produced another pair. I bought them anyways foolishly, but luckily my shoes have been through a lot without having failed in a similar manner.
-One of the plastic eyelets in the lacing system is crooked at all times because of faulty stitching. Does not actually affect performance.
-Exceptionally thin lay of foam in the mid-sole, doesn't have much give in jumps or jogging.
-Is not very breathable on a hot humid day.
-Superfeet green insoles tore some holes in the "friction free" lining of the inside, but the shoes still work fine with the hole.
-NOT resolable by Resole America. Dave Page may be able to repair these but I have not checked yet.
Hasn't failed in any way, but it may because of that ridiculous lace system! Time will tell, I'll keep reporting.
i'm in maintenance and this is a great all-around shoe. i even play golf in them. great traction, very comfortable and they look great too. i want to go camping and hiking in them. merrell thanks for making a great shoe.
My husband Loves this shoe. It's comfortable yet durable : his hiking and fishing.. and everday wear!
I always buy New Balance for comfort and style. I noticed this brand and thought I'd give it a try. I have been very pleased and friends have made a lot of good comments about them, including where I found them. This was also my first purchase with onlineshoes.com [...]I will definitely keep them bookmarked.
Very comfortable yet supportive shoes. The soft sole provides great traction.
I wear it everyday - both at work (do not have to dress formally) and for hiking/walking. Fits like a glove.
So comfortable I forget about my feet. Least bulky shoe I've ever owned yet still very very comfortable even though I have high arches.
these are some of the most comfortable shoes i have ever worn. can't wait to try another pair of merrells
I love these shoes.
The shoes are extremely comfortable yet they are sturdy and fully support your feet. They are awesome for everyday wear not just for
hiking. Great pair of shoes.
best shoe i ever had
A poor design. The non-traditional lacing does not work. After one day of moderate activity one of the plastic pieces holding the laces broke, then another one did, and after that the whole lacing system breaks down, after which the shoes are worthless other than as slippers or sandels. These are for light casual use at best, not serious activity. I was really dissapointed with Merrell, which I had in impression of being a high-end maker of ultra durable shoes, which was exactly the opposite. Most of the supposedly high-end outdoors brands are in fact cheaper than the traditionals, or so my experiences are showing. A really cool looking shoe, and it feels good on your foot, but it is a terrible design in terms of actually standing up to use.
I bought this shoe even though I was looking for a slip-on because it looked like a good compromise between a hiking shoe and an every day walking shoe. That is exactly what it is. It has enough support for medium hikes and is comfortable enough for every day use. It also breathes well so my feet stay comfortable for hours at a time. I'm still going to find a slip on, because this shoe will stay in my camper.
