These shoes were great for my son. He hiked in cold, wet Washington weather for 10 days straight and never once complained. They are great boots for hiking/backpacking. My only complaint is that the wear shows easily on the outside even though they are still in great condition for future trips. Worth the money to not have child in pain or complaining about their feet while in the back country.

This is the second pair of Merrell hiking boots I've bought for my son. The first pair he hiked the Grand Canyon and this pair he hiked Allegheny straight out of the box. These shoes didn't need breaking in. He outgrew them far before they were even close to being worn out. I will continue to buy this brand.
