This is a serious work shoe that's great for casual wear. These shoes are perfect for my work setting, where I spend most of my time in a laid-back editorial office, with occasional visits to an adjoining production factory. There's nothing quite like the sense of confidence you can get from a good pair of steel toe shoes, and compared to what you'd pay for most steel toes, the Ridgemont ST is a tremendous value. And the Goodyear welted soles seem indestructible. Be forewarned if you haven't worn steel toes before that this does make them a very heavy shoe. Also, this brand seems to run about half a size long--I'm a 9 wide, but I found I had to exchange for an 8-1/2 wide to get a proper fit. This roominess in length is likely to account for wearers who work outdoors in cold weather and wish to wear thick thermal socks. For care, I recommend rubbing a little Kiwi mink oil into the shoes once a week. Good as new! I expect to be wearing these babies for many years to come.
