I am very pleased with this J-41 boot. It's beautiful and very comfortable. Generally this brand runs small, so I bought a half size up. Now that I've worn them out and about, I am aware that there is some extra room in the heel. But being a lace-up boot, it doesn't seem to matter. It seems to be more a width issue than length... so it's likely that my regular size would still be a tad too small.
These have the feel of a clog. There is a degree of rigidity to the sole, the rounded cut of the toe gives lots of wiggle room and there is good arch support. Though the photo makes the heel look distinct, it really is a wedge. The heel is black and the connecting wedge part a sort of plastic with the J-41 map embedded in it. (Looks better than it sounds!) And even though the heel is on the high side, because the sole has some thickness, the downward angle that it puts the foot in is a fairly gentle one. So it feels, comfortable, stable and easy to walk in... even run in if you have to sprint across the street. I plan to spray mine with a water repellent.
So there are the practical aspects. What a bonus that they are so attractive and fun to wear.
This boot caught my eye - very different from many of similar style. It is exceptionally comfortable, well-made with great attention to detail. However, "stylish" doesn't cut it, if the performance is lackluster. I have had several occasions to wear these & each time they have exceeded my expectations. The only negative is that they don't do well with ice, but that could be said for most shoes/boots.
I would highly recommend this style - it is casual without looking dowdy or plain-jane. They've done a great job with this boot - hope they continue to kick out more of the same!
