Since the NB Country Walker I use to get is no longer available anywhere, I had to upgrade to this shoe. I was concerned that I wouldn't like it. I ordered my normal size 9, which was too small. I finally ended up with a 10! I'VE ALWAYS WORN A 9. This will be my fall/winter/early spring shoe. I like the fact that it is Gortex lined (I get cold feet very easily) and that it is ankle high (I have weak ankles). It IS a nicer shoe than the Country Walker I wore for years. I've been wearing it full time for about 2 weeks and so far so good.
I had the older version 975. They lasted ages, but have finally bit the dust. These to replace, were just too short and too narrow, after ordering 1/2 size bigger, based on the other reviews. They weren't kidding! I normally wear 9.5 Narrow in new balance, I have just ordered the 10.5 and sending the 10 back. I know my feet haven't grown that much! :-) looking forward to having them for rainy season.

This is a great shoe for hiking and walking in rainy weather.
This shoe ran amazingly short. I needed a whole size larger than I usually wear.
My podiatrist recommended New Balance shoes for my plantar fasciitis & heal spurs almost 10 years ago. I literally couldn't get out of bed without falling & needed a cane to support myself. I started with regular New Balance walkers, then found the 962 Country Walker (and subsequent models) were a Godsend...I could stand & walk comfortably with no cane! Unfortunately the 965 doesn't have some of the features I need so the New Balance fit experts recommended the 977 to me. It's such a relief to find that I can once again walk with very little pain & without falling. I love that they're waterproof since I do some light hiking & don't have to worry about ruining the shoes walking by the river! These run a little small; I normally wear a 7.5 D (with wide forefoot and deep toebox) but in these an 8 D fits perfectly.
This is a super nice shoe! It does run really small. I usually wear a 7M, I ordered an 8W and it is too tight. I will return it and get an 8EE. We own a construction company and during the summer I am on my feet for 12+ hours a day. This will make an excellent work shoe. Other than being too tight across my foot this shoe is extremely comfortable and feels good on my foot with lots of support and cushion.
Great for walking in snow, good traction.
I use these shoes for walking and daywear. I was thrilled to find a shoe that was so comfortable from day one. I had been looking for shoes for 6 months not many 11 or 12 narrows out there. I normally wear 11AAAA and have had extensive surgery on my feet. It has been a blessing for me that NB came out with these shoes. They give me great support and stability and work perfect with my orthotics and active lifestyle. These ran a size small, but the 12 narrows are perfect.
