I usually wear flats, so negative heel isn't too much of a change (and I recall fondly my early 70s Earth Shoes). In comparison to other flats, feels like my hips get more mobility & workout as I walk. Usually take size 9, read the reviews and ordered size 9.5, had to return for a size 10--but now have a good fit--snug but not binding. With age, feet are starting to get bunions & odd angles, hereditary issues, so I need comfortable shoes that don't look like army boots. I do plan to use a silicon-based water protectant, given the slush and snow here in winter. Thus far, second in comfort only to my Brooks Beast sneakers (designed for overpronators, though only available in men's sizing).
I love these shoes. I have been wearing them on weekends to be sure they are comfortable before I wear them on a trip to Peru --- specifically Machu Picchu. While I don't plan to hike up the trail to the site, I will be doing a lot of walking and touring the ruins as well as the Sacred Valley. They feel perfect on my feet, even after wearing them all day. They provide good support while making me more conscious of my core alignment. And, my adult daughter thinks they look really cool --- she is begging for me to give them to her when I get back from the trip. I don't plan to give them up, though.
I don't know of any negatives. I did buy some spray for the nubuck to help protect them from water. So far, I don't know if that is needed.
Very comfortable boot. Can were inside jeans or outside skinny jeans. Looks really cute. I love them and would recommend ot anyone.
