Merrell's Spire Stretch is a very comfortable, good looking shoe. It is particularly well suited to those with narrower feet, which doesn't mean that the width is narrow. The last is simply a sleeker and more on the narrow side than other "comfort shoes." it look equally good with work clothes or jeans. Since it is a sleek shoe, it is good for suits and long skirts. I wouldn't wear it with shorter skirts or dresses, but it is stunning (for a comfort shoe) with dress pants or long skirts (as long as you wear dark tights or trouser socks). I would recommend this shoe to women who want style as well as comfort.
I have searched for well over a year for good tradeshow shoes that did not cost over $200 and was able to stand up to the demand along with comfort of walking big shows. After spending hundreds of dollars on the wrong shoes, this shoe ALMOST does that. Though it is not a very stylish shoe, with long trouser pants you are not able to see them. I am overall happy with the shoe and its performance at the last big tradeshow; however, I would have liked it to have more support at the ball of the foot and toes. It was nice to not need bandaids or have problems walking at a show; very happy that I am closer to finding the perfect, affordable, tradeshow shoe. The spire is working nicely in the meantime.
What a great feel. I've had lots of coments on it's good looks too!
I walk around a hospital all day for a living. I need to look professional but prefer causual dress. These shoes are fantastic.
My feet feel great in them.
I love Merrell shoes. I first purchased the Spire slide in black,
loved them, but needed a summer shoe. So I then purchased the
walking shoe, but it's too sporty for work. I have plantars faschitis,
so I really need a corrective shoe with a custom orthotic. Since I
have worn Merrells, I rarely need my orthotic. I now have the Spire
slide in brown and the Spire loafer. I wear them everyday to work
without my orthotic most of the time, and I have totally elilminated
pain. Merrells are a true miracle. The only time I wear any other
shoe is church (no walking or standing) or a wedding or funeral.
Only dressy occassions do I not wear Merrells. I cannot reccommend Merrell shoes enough. They're amazing. Truly

toe part looks like a rain boots, heel is really cute, and I do not understand why only 5 does not have half size. overall a very comfortable nice shoes.
A favorite! I travel constantly with work & can't live without my Merrel Spire Stretch shoes. I typically replace them once a year - but they never show the wear!
I love this pair of shoe. I'm a runner so I look for comfort as well as style because of the type of job I have. It looks very professional as well as causal. I am on my feet most of the day so I wear it most of the day. Please don't ever discontinue this shoe. I've also told all my friends and coworkers about it. They also like the way it looks with slacks and casual clothes.
This is my favorite shoe....comfortable and it looks good too!
Nice looking Merrell with the typical comfortable footbed. Unfortunately the shallow cut of the toe box makes it uncomfortable so it had to go back.
I am a hairdresser and truly have to stand for 8 hours a day. These Merrell shoes are the only shoes that felt great the FIRST day. My feet don't hurt anymore. I agree with other women that Merrell needs to make these in more colors...Navy and tan would be nice! I already have the black and brown.
Buy these and you won't be disappointed...I promise.
I'm a 48 year old teacher in Arizona, who recently sought the help of a podiatrist for the first time. After injuring both ankles (one when I was 15 and the other 10 years ago) and standing on my feet for 5 hours a day over the last 20 years (job requirement!) my poor feet were in quite a state! Not to mention lower back and hip pain! The podiatrist prescribed arch support and cushioning. After much research I decided to try Merrells. The result was that I donated almost all of my shoes to Goodwill and now exclusively wear Merrells. I don't even have to wear the orthotics prescribed by the podiatrist. I bought 8 pairs of sandals, which I wear from about April to about November, but I needed covered shoes for our winter, so I decided to try the Spire stretch. I bought a pair of 9M in brown (the same size as all my other Merrells, including the Jungle Primo (my first buy - which I'm still in love with!). I really like the way they look with my work trousers, but they are a little tight, so I ordered the black pair in 9.5M. They fit much better and I can wear them with thin socks, while I have to wear the brown 9 with knee highs.
My Merrells are also great for traveling. This past summer I took students to Europe and packed only two pairs of Merrell sandals and wore my Jungle Primos for the journey. They were perfect! They are very light, which is an added bonus when traveling.
I'm literally on my feet for ten hours a day as a 7th grade teacher. I'm on concrete floors covered by ceramic tiles. As an educator in a conservative school district, I can't wear tennis shoes to work. I'm also a marathon runner, and I won't tolerate shoes that won't move when I move or limit my mobility. The Spire shoe line is the only shoe line that works for me. My leg and back pains have significantly lessened. And I LOOK GOOD!
These let you look put together while still being as comfortable as you would be in your favorite slippers. Great!
These are simply the most comfortable shoes I have ever had. I'm a Merrell girl for life!
I wanted a shoe I could wear that would look dressy and still be comfortable. I also can put my orthodics in them without a problem.
I love this shoe. I have bought four pairs of the shoe; two black pairs and two brown pairs; three pair for me and one pair for my sister. I bought a second pair of black because I wear these shoes ALL the time, and was afraid they would be gone when I needed a new pair (but they never seem to wear out). In the next few days, I plan to go to [...] and buy my sister a black pair; she loves the shoe too. This shoe is so comfortable, and looks great with pants.
This is one of the most comfortable shoes I have owned in a long time. The shoe was comfortable right off and did not have to be broken in. I can do a lot of walking in it and it is still nice looking and stylish for work. I have the brown and black.
The product is great[...]
When I got these shoes I LOVED the way they looked but when I got them they felt a full size too small. I returned them for the next larger size and they felt better but still tight. Merrills are great shoes and comfortable to walk in but in the battle to break the shoes in, they ended up breaking me. I gave up and gave the shoes to someone with more narrow feet. Buyer beware.
This has all the comfort and stability of a Merrell shoe in a sleeker design. It is a surprisingly lightweight shoe. It was comfortable for walking right off the bat and still looks brand new after a month, despite the amount I use it.
Would like to see some shoes offered in a wide width.
I wasn't able to find any. The med width will do but I prefer a bit wider width
I wear these almost every day--extremely comfortable for walking--bought both brown and black. I left my first pair behind at a hotel while traveling last year--immediately bought another pair after confirming that the hotel couldn't locate the ones I left in the room [...]
I developed Plantar Fasciitis about 4 months ago and have been having a very hard time finding shoes. My Dr. recommended Dansko and Merrell. I tried many pairs of the Dansko's first because I liked the look of them better but I was having a hard time finding anything I could wear when I was going to be on my feet alot. I decided to try the Spire stretch and although I don't love the look I love how they fit and I can now be on my feet for long periods of time. What amazed me most when I opened them was how light they were and I thought these are never going to work but boy was I wrong. I now have them in black & brown and plan on trying more styles of the Merrell. I did try the primo chill but they just didn't support me the same.
I bought my Murrells two years ago, and have never had a more comfortable shoe in my life! I wear them almost everyday. The look was what first caught my eye, but was pleasantly surprised how comfortable they were! I have never paid more than $50.00 for a pair of shoes, but I am looking forward to getting another pair of these wonderful shoes! I am also telling everyone about them! Thanks Murrell!
Merrell shoes are the most comfortable shoes that I have ever worn. I like this style because it is more conservative for work and goes well with suits and dress pants.
since i discovered this more dressy merrill, i am such a fan. it's my favorite shoe!

This shoe feels like you are not wearing a shoe- soft, good fit, supple, stable. It has a good, comfortable arch support. It keeps your feet feeling good all day whether you sit, stand, or walk. Excellent shoe for active people.

I spend a good part of my day on my feet, on asphalt, my career is in car sales. While "hoofing" throughout the dealership and around the lot, these shoes are phenomenal! Not only do they look great, but my feet feel fantastic all day! They're both supportive and cushioned, perfect for those of us who spend a lot of time walking on a hard surface. I own a pair in Black, about to purchase a pair in Brown. I wish they offered more colors/textures -- I could build an inventory of these shoes! Buy a pair, you'll see what I mean! They're "the BMW of the shoe world!" Comfortable and designed for those who demand the best for their feet!
I've also needed orthotics in shoes for a good part of my life, and THESE shoes take care of my arches on their own!
This is an absolutely great shoe - I have it in both black and brown. It looks dressy enough to wear with pants suits and is extremely comfortable and durable.
I started off with Merrell sandals and was hooked by their comfort , then the cold weather came and I needed shoes , so I tried these.
They look great , fit well and have a wonderful arch support . I wear orthotics in other shoes but don't need them in Merrell shoes . My heel spur hasn't bothered me since I have worn Merrell footwear .
When I have "serious" walking to do, these are the shoes that I wear. If they came in more colors, I'd have more pairs.
This shoe really works well for me as I have a narrow foot so the stretch material around the heel and ankle really help. I love it and have all the colors that are available. I would love to see it in a nice tan/taupe color with the stretch material the same color. Thanks
Great shoe for someone on their feet a lot, especially hard surfaces.
This shoe is outstanding! During fall, winter and spring, I wear this shoe to school and play. Bought two pairs in black and brown colors. The shoes look great with pants; the heel is just the right height to let my pants hang just perfectly. This is the most comfortable shoe. I have plantars faciatis, and I don't have to wear my inserts with this shoe because of the arch support.
Great with jeans and for long walks.
I originally purchased them in black and absolutely loved them. Had to order a brown pair also.
I have worn this pair of shoes 1-2 times per week since purchasing in December 2005. Although 1 1/2 years may sound like a life time for shoes, I have never worn out a pair and I am not a spring chicken! These shoes look as if I hiked the Appalacian Trail twice in one season!
