This shoe holds up for years of constant wear! The shoe tends to run a little short. Add 1/2 size when ordering. Our whole family wears Dr. Martin shoes. Worn for casual or dress, they always look great. With a little shoe polish, even after years of wear they clean up like new!
I wear my docs for everything! They are my work, play, travel, everyday shoes and I couldn't find a shoe that could even touch their quality. The one and ONLY downside to docs. I don't reccomend wearing them in the snow. I was at a party one night and i was running downhill with my hands in my jacket pockets, fell at the bottom of the hill because the soles are so soft that they get no traction in the snow or on ice. In the end i ended up ripping my jacket from the fall. Other than that they are flawless!
I wear it just about every other day because I like to rotate my shoes. These Docs are comfortable, although stiff around the heel at first, once you allow the break-in period. I can actually feel the cushioning above the outsole. These Docs are a lot more comfortable than my previous Docs, probably because they've incorporated the "flex" technology and the leather is more supple.
I have owned a pair of 1461's for as long as I can remember (I was in high school when I first bought a pair, now I am in my 40s!) They have always been comfortable to me from day 1, and I doubt I will ever be without at least 1 pair in my closet.
This shoe is ultra comfortable right out of the box. The leather apprears softer than the old classic Docs but not quite as soft and subject to scuffing as the 'greasy leather' Docs.
These shoes look great with just about anything and they happen to be quite comfortable...as long as you get a good pair. It's such a shame that Dr. Marten has outsourced the contstruction of their shoes, because the materials and build quality are nowhere near what they used to be. The black leather is very nice looking, but is paper thin and prone to warping. The leather had already sunk in near the base of the tongue on each shoe when they arrived on my door step and the shoe itself has a tendency to distort with each step, making it feel loose on the sides and tight in various other places on top. The "lining" between the outside and the inside of the shoe, (around the ankle and heel) is poorly cut and relies on the stitching for padding. Despite a very comfortable left shoe, the leather cut/stitching on the heel of my right shoe was noticably worse and left a blister by the end of the day. And if you plan to use these in cold weather, wear heavier socks--the thin leather does little in the way of insulation. I have owned 2 pairs of Dr. Martens before these, both of which I have been very happy with. If you are looking for an excellent pair of black Dr. Martens, try the 8053 instead-[...]
These shoes feel great and I am on my feet most of the day. They match everything and never go out of style. Thanks!!!
My old pair had finally started to show some separation in the soles after six years of almost daily wear, so it was time for a new pair. Love them.
