I bought these for my college age son; it's his second pair because after two years of constant wear, including six weeks backpacking in Europe, the first pair was worn out. I got the soft footbed this time because my 13 year old daughter has a pair with the soft footbed and loves them -- she is a cross country runner and the comfy Birkenstocks have been a wonderful respite from sore ankles and knees from too much training.
Comments about Birkenstock Boston Soft Footbed:
I have a hammer toe and one foot is larger than the other. This shoe is comforatble, especially after the break-in period in which the sole adjusts to my foot. I have tried many styles of Birkenstock shoes. The open sandal (Arizona?) and this are the ones that work best.
Comments about Birkenstock Boston Soft Footbed:
I live where it is hot or cold. No real in betweens. This keeps the heat in and lets it out. Great for walking. My feet feel great at the end of the day. No soreness or aches. Reinforces your natural gait and toe alignment. Get these shoes if you want your feet to feel stronger and better at the end of the day.

Comments about Birkenstock Boston Soft Footbed:
I really liked these shoes, but mine were far too big (I'm size 5 and got a 36 and I looked like I had clown feet). They don't have any 35s in stock though :( So I ended up returning them :(

These shoes are GREAT if you have problems with your feet. They are warm in cold weather, easy to get on and off, and they fit my foot like a glove! The are also great for my legs and lower back, especially if I am on my feet all day.
Comments about Birkenstock Boston Soft Footbed:
These are great shoes. They are the first pair of Birkenstocks I've owned with the soft footbed. Initially, I was not sure I liked the shoe. It took around a week's worth of wearing them before I felt truly acclimated to them, but now they are wonderful! I wouldn't say they feel better or worse than a traditional pair of Bostons, just different.
The color of the shoes is a dark gray and they will match a wardrobe pretty much like black would. The illustration here (on my computer at least) seems true to what you will get if you order a pair.
I wear these mainly around the house and outside on my patio. They are suitable to wear around town, but I haven't done that yet. They offer more warmth than a regular pair of Birks, so they're good for colder weather. I couldn't see myself really wearing them in the summertime though. I think they'd feel too warm and/or not seem breathable enough.
A note on sizing: While these wool Bostons seem true to size in width and length, they do not offer the internal volume of a regular pair of Birkenstock Bostons. I have low volume feet so I appreciate the snugger fit, but they are impossible to wear with thick socks. The socks will bunch up inside the shoe and the comfort of the shoe itself will take a big hit. With thinner socks, it's no problem and the shoes feel great. If you have high (internal) volume feet, these shoes will probably feel too small for you.
