This is my 4th pair of Docs, second pair of originals. As usual with these, the size is a bit akward for those of us in the US. I wear women's 9.5 and ordered these as a 9. They fit very well with room for thick socks if needed. The leather is very very stiff to start out. These are not a pair of shoes you throw on and walk around the block for the first time. I could barely walk up and down the steps at first. However, with time, they mold to your foot shape. Once they get to that point, there's nothing stopping them from being the "everything" boot. I wear them everywhere: to work because they're more comfortable than a pair of dress shoes; to mow the lawn because the grass clippings wipe right off; to work on my house because it keeps my toes from getting crushed by a 2x4 or hammer. My first pair lasted 10 years. That kind of durability is well worth the price and pain of breaking them in...
