I ordered the Tillson by Born to use as a winter indoor/outdoor boot. Something I could wear outside in the elements but would still look good with dress clothes. Works perfectly. Great looking, immediately comfortable and nothing wears like a Born. Would buy them again, once these wear out, if they ever do!
Reminds me of the beloved Timberlands I used to own, before the brand became all tricked-out and 'urban.'
I own several pairs of Born shoes and all of them are very comfortable, but the Tilson shoe was too narrow in the toe area for me and were rather stiff in the heel area. They seemed more cheaply constructed than any of the other syles that I have worn.
I discovered born shoes while on a trip to Solvang, Ca. I tried on the Digsy and fell in love. Unfortunately the did not have the french roast color in my size so when I returned home I got on line to find a pair that fit me. I found the best selection and variety at Onlineshoes.com. While looking I saw the Born Tillson and preferred that style over the Digsy. I purchased them but was disappointed that the comfort was no match to the digsy (the ankle of the boot was too high and stiff for my comfort. I sent them back in exchange for the Digsy and am anxiously awaiting their arrival any day. The question below asks if I would recommend them to a friend and the answer is it depends. The over all comfort and craftsmanship of the shoe is second to none but the ankle is about 2 1/2 to 3" high and one has too be comfortable in that style.
This is an attractive shoe, but it's taking some breaking in, which surprised me because my other pair of Borns was comfortable from the first moment I put them on. They're narrower than the other pair as well. (I bought my first pair from a department store, so I knew to order a half-size bigger than I usually wear.) If I don't wear thick socks, they rub the back of my foot, above the heel. It's rain season here in Northern California, and they do keep my feet dry, and the soles are sturdy and safe, not slippery. (I think they'd be warmer if they weren't quite as narrow.) So: Order a half-size up, wear thick socks, and break them in -- then you'll love them.
I bought a similar Born shoe a few years ago in dark brown, and ever since, I've been looking for the same/similar shoe in black. They didn't make the original shoe in black, so it was a long wait, but definitely worth it. These have great cushion, are comfortable, and I'm sure they'll wear well because my brown ones have. This is the 8th pair of Born shoes I've bought, and will continue to buy more and more!
this is a great, classic looking boot, especially in the ebano color. however, it is quite narrow. usually, born makes an amply wide shoe for women, but this is not the case. my feet are a bit wider than normal, but my other pairs of born had more room in the width. I may just have to go a size bigger to get more room.
I love the look of these boots. I have for years and though there are different versions of this type of boot, the one purchased here is my favorite style. I love the lace up look and height the ankle part of the boot goes up to, not too low, not too high.
I wear with jeans and also love how they look with a casual dress and stockings or leggings or stretch pants and a long dress shirt.
The inside is also well made. I happen to have very sweaty feet (not smelly - just sweaty) and the inner sole breathes very well.
Heal is also just the right size. I am short but do not like heals but no heals just don't look right with this kind of boot.
