The look is what attracted me to this bag, as did the fabric, along with the promise of storage compartments. As with every bag I've tried in recent memory, this one just doesn't measure up to my needs. First needs: easy, exterior, one-handed access to a ring of keys (house,office,mail,car), my sunglasses and reading glasses, and my cell phone (this bag has a magnet sewn into the exterior pocket most logical for my sunglasses making it difficult to get into, altho' the little cell phone pocket works well and has a velcro tab across the top to keep it secure. The other side which has a zipper pocket isn't quite roomy enough to comfortably drop my key ring in and my reading glasses). Second need: an uncomplicated interior space that is neither too deep nor too wide, and can hold my bulky three-fold wallet, a small notebook, my checkbook and a couple of pens, with a shallow zipper opening pocket for small items such as eye drops, lip gloss, pain relievers (this bag has the zipper compartment at least & it works perfectly). I love the pumpkin orange interior contrast to the black exterior of this bag, but it is a constant struggle with the top zippers to get into the two interior compartments and neither space works with my bulky wallet. The shoulder strap is placed off to one side of the bag so that you can get into the two separate interior spaces but this makes the bag feel off balance, and only comfortable wearing with the zipper side facing away from the body. Perhaps this would make a better traveling bag when all you care to take are the bare necessities - it is a disappointment as an everyday pocketbook.

When I received this bag I was convinced that it was too small for my needs, my upcoming travels. I had to buy a smaller wallet for the bag but that was the only change I had to make. There is space for all my things - wallet, checkbook, calendar, comb, has a separate cell phone pocket that is very convenient. Started using this as a commuter bag and it has worked perfectly and handled the use of subway cards and extra keys well. Also, the front section that flaps out - has a very easy zipper to use with one-hand opening and closing. Sling it over your shoulder and go!
