Because of my narrow feet the two-strap Mephisto are about the only style they offer, that I can wear. With the straps tightened all the way, these barely fit. But this brand has the best arch support and reason I buy, because of back pain. Length & width are true to size if you wear a medium width. I wear size 10 in most brands of shoes, but in sandals I wear 9 to 9 1/2. I'm somewhere in-between size in the Mephisto, because size 40 barely fit and the 41 was slightly too long, so I chose 40, because of my narrow feet......

This shoe is high quality leather and construction....Can walk forever, breathes, arch support, heel cushioned, toe and upper foot roomy...get many compliments on them....Expensive and worth it...I would like to see this in a lighter color for summer, but then I live in year round sunshine....if your thinking about purchasing this shoe, just do it, you will be so very happy with your new favorite shoe.

I have trouble from time to time with heel pain and wear orthotics in most shoes. The Match by Mephisto is the first shoe I've been able to wear in years w/o an orthotic. It simply has the best pure support overall in a regular shoe. Sure, the cost is up there for a casual shoe, but the result can't be beat. It is also beneficial that most Mephisto shoes are recraftable, so you can conceivably wear these shoes for years and years. I don't understand another reviewer's comment about the shoes being "stiff". They are soft and supportive at the same time; I don't find them to be stiff at all. The leather molds to your feet within a few wearings. I originally bought them in brown and loved them so much I got another pair in black.
