I bought these shoes to wear on occasions that include both a lot of walking and being dressy-casual. The shoes seem well-made, and the tan leather is attractive and supple. But the heels are quite low, so that my slacks and tailored khakis are about an inch too long. OK, so that means that I wear only jeans, or shorten a pair of pants just to wear with these shoes.
Next is comfort. I do agree with the other reviewer who compared them to slippers. You are walking flat, not with a raised heel, which may be an issue for those with sensitive Achilles tendons. Each shoe weighs in at only 8.5 ounces (size 9M), only a bit over half what my Nike and Asolo walking shoes weigh.
The soles have excellent grip, but do not have the extra width under the heel that my other walking shoes have, to give some protection against twisting your ankle.
Minuses for me include the insoles, which I may replace. They are covered with pebble-pattern raised bumps, like massage sandals. That's pleasant for a short stroll, but causes friction on a decent length walk. Cushioning is good at the ball, but inadequate for me at the heel. The firm, rubbery top of the heel digs in too much for me.
All in all, a disappointment. I expect better comfort from Rockport.
