Comments about Propet Alpine Walker:

A couple of years ago I backpacked the 530 mile Santiago de Compestella trail and more recently the 70 mile Hadrian's Wall trail with the same pair of Propet boots. They fit my freaky short, wide feet perfectly. These new Alpine Walker shoes have a much better lacing system compared to the older model I had, and I now look forward to testing them out on another trail this summer 2010.

Comments about Propet Alpine Walker:

I read the other reviews and liked what I read. These shoes wore "brand new" like I had worn them for years! They are beyond comfortable and with Thorlo socks feel like walking on a cloud. I am a big guy and walk miles on concrete floors every day. I have to say these are the best shoes I have ever worn.

Comments about Propet Alpine Walker:

I am often on my feet for hours in all kinds of weather. These boots are great. Comfortable out of the box. Size runs true and with a roomy toe box. Extra width is really comfortable for me, it really is extra wide (think Birkenstock sandals wide). Haven't worn them in cold weather yet, but they probably will do pretty well. Plenty of room for thick socks and has a good substantial sole. Oh, the price can't be beat either.

Comments about Propet Alpine Walker:

I got the double xx wide (Iwas so glad to have a choice of something beside medium) but it seems that the arch could be higher for me, while still requiring the wide toe box.

These shoes were comfortable after just a few minutes. However they are not waterproof. I walk a lot in wet grass and my socks were wet in less than an hour.

Comments about Propet Alpine Walker:

These were comfortable from the start. I have wide feet with high arches so there are a limited number of boots that work for me. There was enough room in the extra-wide (5E) size to insert an arch support without removing the insole and still wear an extra-cushioned hiking sock. They are easy to slip into even with swollen feet from a day off after extended long distance hiking. With little to no break-in I took these to Colorado to hike in Rocky Mtn NP. They handled the (rather groomed) trails with ease and performed well on the rock scramble atop Estes Cone as well as the keyhole route above the Boulder Field of Longs Peak. The rubber on the top front edge of the boots is starting to separate from the leather so the jury is still our regarding just how durable this model is.
