Bought the shoe from Red Lodge Mt. Shopping with the wife and my feet were killing me. Went into a hiking store and as soon as I but them on they felt perfect. Made it threw the rest of the weekend with feet feeling great. Used them for hiking and on my landscaping business jobs for over a year and still working and looking like new. Just bought my 2nd pair just to make sure I always have a pair on hand.

I am a 60 year old woman whose feet have widened over the years and I also hike about 800 miles a year. The men's Sawtooth mid-rise has been a perfect shoe for me 3 times! Yes this is my third year and third pair of shoes which I use every day of the year. The shoes have never broken down in the seams or torn. But I replace them after a year because I can feel the much needed support diminish. My old shoes are relegated to gardening shoes after they retire. I chose the men's shoe because it is wider then a woman's and fits comfortably on my feet. The Sawtooth design does everything I need for daily 4 mile hikes on trails nearby which include keeping my feet dry, super support and sufficient cushioning on uneven terrain. I can only hope they never change the design.

These boots are a PURE joy to put on as they offer a very secure feeling enveloping my feet with great/confident support. However, they do not seem to breathe as well as my usual Vasque Breeze GTX in the Spring-Fall warmth. I'm not saying they feel warm as in insulated, but just more warm than I would prefer. I now choose them as my casual choice for daytime trips to town and such...and they are a fine choice for dry Winter treks. I generally don't hike in wet conditions, so I can't speak re: comments about wet/slippery conditions. This is a good looking, well constructed boot with a very unique appearance. I like them a lot.

I am 70 years old and am paid to patrol private mountain trout streams and hike over trails with roots, rocks, plank bridges, through boulders, etc. These boots are great for that!. But, beware of NO traction on wet rocks! I was told the opposite by a friend, so I'm somewhat sad to find out that is not the case. However, over all these are among the best boots I have tried in many years; including such brands as Vasque & Merrill.
